Warm Weather Hygge

By definition, hygge (hooga) according to the Denmark website is about "taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures."   There's a fun little book I read on vacation back in 2018 called The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living and I loved it so much, I bought one as soon as I got back.  There was actually nothing more relaxing than reading that little book curled up on the couch in the sunroom with a cup of tea and is one of my favorite memories of that trip. Many tend to associate this practice in the cooler months of Fall and Winter because it tends to focus on the act of being cozy.  Snuggling under a blanket, enjoying a warm, healing cup of tea by the fireplace (or fireplace on TV ), lighting a favorite candle while doing a calming hobby like cross stitch or scrapbooking.  Being a hyggephant, I can tell you that I never associated warm wea...

What I'm Reading This Week #39

Happy Friday y'all!   I am ready for the weekend as I'm sure you are too.   The last weekend in September...how is that possible!?  I feel like I just celebrated my birthday, but then it also feels so far away.  You ever get that, how something can feel so close but so far away time-wise?  It feels like I haven't gotten to enjoy one Fall oriented thing yet.  I enjoyed snuggling up in my Great Pumpkin sheets which sadly was the highlight of my week.

Now let's snuggle into...

A few weeks ago I was looking forward to this weekend for a potential paddle but the temps are going to be in the 90's where I wanted to go so, nope.  Bleh.  Therefore, no plans that I know of.  I need to clean the house but what fun is that?

Got any plans for the weekend?

  1. Yeah this hasn't been Fall yet weather-wise except for mornings that are crisp which I like. Get these 90 degree days outta here! Have a great weekend everybody!

  2. I was saying the same thing last night, that I can't believe October starts on Tuesday! I'm taking the pooches to get their baths and haircuts in a few minutes and then have a couple of errands to run. The hubs has to work tomorrow so I will do the grocery shopping and will plan to make a nice Sunday dinner, which I haven't done in way too long. It's going to be raining for three straight days so I'll mostly be doing house stuff. Have a great weekend and hopefully somehow those temps won't be so high by you!

  3. Just moved back to the Northeast after 15 years in FL and I'm looking forward to my first real fall weather in a loooong time. It hasn't quite happened yet but soon...very soon.
