Happy Tuesday, everyone!
It was quite a whirlwind weekend. My friend's shower was lovely. The Mr and I dropped off the cookies that were 12 hours in the making from beginning to end. I'm never making them again. Okay, give it a few months. It was nice to pick her up from her hotel and listen to Hawaiian music then pull over and chat since we were way early. My spot was next to her along with a guy from high school that she's been friends with since 4th grade and two of her college friends. The one friend and I hit it off really well and the other one, well...yeah. I mean we were fine but I would choose to hang out with the one girl and would actually love to spend some time and the other one, I would not want to spend time with. If I had to hear one more time that she was gluten-free, I was going to throat punch her. She said it no less than 20x to the point when she was on her 5th cocktail, the guy friend was like "is it gluten-free." *mental high five* You can have a gluten issue, but you do NOT need to make everyone else miserable reminding them of it every 5 minutes.
My friend had a great time even though her mom was not well enough to make it. Her fiance came at the end, but most people had left by then since the order was a little convoluted. We did my birthday celebration that night with my cake and pizza, and it was nice to just kick back and open gifts from the Mr.
The next day I woke up with half of my eye filled with blood. Obviously, a busted blood vessel though I have no idea how it happened. I'm just thankful it didn't do that the day before for the shower and make it look like I got poked in the puss to quote 1930's cartoons. We went back to the place the shower was because they're known for a specific fish dish and they didn't have that catered, so I was gonna get some dammit. Afterward, we walked in the park and then parked it to watch the ducks.
Then it was to our second home (Home Depot), and we got back to it. This is called the "worse before it gets better" stage...again.
(The Mr is buried in there somewhere) |
I came across a few blasts from the past like old Avon perfumes that would give me an instant headache now.
Earrings from my 8th-grade dance in which I wore a balloon skirt...I 💓 the 80's!
Sigh...our fans from the OG show that started all of the food challenge shows.
A friend of ours was in it in Hawaii, and we had such a great time cheering him on, hanging out up at his station and chatting with him when he'd get bored. Someone asked if I was his daughter. (I wish!) I'm happy to say he won that episode and we're on a little piece of Food Network history.
Then we cleaned up and got the rest of the house ready because the window guys are coming around 8:30am to replace the windows and slider. Friday we should finally be able to breathe after the driveway is sealed on Thursday and the flooring arrives for the basement! My Lord, it's been (and is gonna keep being) busy!
What did you guys do this Labor Day weekend?

Live the mental high five! I find it strange when someone I know really well has an annoying friend. Like, how can we vibevif they vibe??!! We had a cuzzo weekend of games, visiting and chill topped off with a bonfire and s'mores. I just live them 2, great folks with a great relationship, you feel their love.
ReplyDeleteHope your birthday was amazing. Have a great week!
I KNOW, RIGHT!?!?! I mean, I have a healthy dose of snark but this woman was just plain miserable, annoying and I don't know how she's still married because there's NO WAY I would fault someone for leaving that vat of negativity.
DeleteSounds like you had a great weekend! Thanks, it was productive which was amazing adjacent. ;-)
It was a weekend with all kinds of stuff going on and we made it thru. That basement mess was daunting but we're finally seeing a light at the end of the tunnel and I am very happy with the way it is all turning out.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely busy and I can't wait to get into the last of the crap. Thank God it doesn't look like that anymore! LOL
DeleteIt's going to be a crazy week, but it sounds like you guys are super close to wrapping up. Basement, windows, driveway... it'll be like a whole new house.
ReplyDeleteI get what you're saying about not vibing with someone that's good friends with a friend. It happens all the time though. I think it's because we all have different facets to our personalities and sometimes we overlook the sides we don't like as much b/c we really like the other sides. But then the crummy sides make friends too and we really don't like those people.
A weekend in the mountains was nice, but I didn't feel well on Sunday and I had grading to do while I was gone so I feel a little cheated out of my end of summer trip. Back to school today.
I can see why she appealed to her in the 90's when angst was a thing but she hasn't appeared to grow much from who she was then. They don't live near each other so I'm sure it's good for a once or twice a year get together. :D
DeleteI'm glad you were able to get away but sorry you weren't feeling well the second half. I hope you get to do a make up weekend soon!
Saturday was a meeting and grocery shopping while the hubs was at work and a little laundry. Sunday was finishing the laundry and getting all the bedding done as well as doing some birthday/anniversary shopping for him. Yesterday the hubs worked again so I cut the lawn. Hot and humid yesterday and today but will be much better the rest of the week, which I'm looking forward to.
ReplyDeleteSounds like you got a lot done while hubby was laboring all Labor Day weekend. I hope we're turning a corner into cooler weather for real. I'm just not down with humid and 90's, as you well know.
