Warm Weather Hygge

By definition, hygge (hooga) according to the Denmark website is about "taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures."   There's a fun little book I read on vacation back in 2018 called The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living and I loved it so much, I bought one as soon as I got back.  There was actually nothing more relaxing than reading that little book curled up on the couch in the sunroom with a cup of tea and is one of my favorite memories of that trip. Many tend to associate this practice in the cooler months of Fall and Winter because it tends to focus on the act of being cozy.  Snuggling under a blanket, enjoying a warm, healing cup of tea by the fireplace (or fireplace on TV ), lighting a favorite candle while doing a calming hobby like cross stitch or scrapbooking.  Being a hyggephant, I can tell you that I never associated warm wea...

What I'm Reading This Week #12

Happy Friday everyone.  I hope your week has treated you well and you've got something fun planned for the first weekend of spring.  I know our beloved Vermont has a foot of snow planned for today and wish we were there to play.  *kicks pebble*

Let's kick around...

How to Do a Hip Thrust, the Best Butt Exercise You're Not Doing  (I need to start doing these to up my PT game.)

50 Best Foods for Women's Health  (Load up the grocery cart!)

Strength training may reduce fatty liver disease  (Pump that iron!)

6 Little-Known Dangers of Restricting Sodium Too Much  (Duly noted, however, I strongly disagree with the amount they suggest which is up to 2x the amount recommended by the USDA and CDC.  Check with your doctor. )

A 2-Minute Exercise That Will Change Your Life & Help You Lose Weight  (The Mr has suggested this before and I blew it off but at this point, I'll try anything.)

Tens of Thousands of Heart Patients May Not Need Open-Heart Surgery   (Good to know options if you need them.)

How to Get Your To-Do List Done When You’re Always in Meetings  (Great tips to get stuff done.)

The Dirty Secret Women Keep   (Oh good, something to look forward to.)

Fleetwood Mac members dish on Lindsey Buckingham's 2018 'firing'   (Make sure to watch the video at the bottom for Lindsey's side of the story.  I wonder if this was done before his heart surgery because it seems VERY apparent to me in his labored breathing that he should've been checked out.)

Drive-Thru Workers Can Hear You Even When You Can't Hear Them  (Courtesy of the Mr.  Refrain from calling them a dumbass until AFTER you get your food.)

We're going to a symphony this weekend which will be a nice distraction from all of the other crap we're dealing with.  (Thanks for the well wish Dalbador and those on FB, it meant the world to the Mr.)  Until then, I'm going to listen to KPOA online and pretend we're in Hawaii.  I might be getting the itch here in the next year or so but our vacays are locked down for this year.  We'll see.

What are you doing this weekend?  Anyone got spring break going on?

  2. Boy, that perimenopause article was like someone has been living in my house. lol I've been in it for about two years now and this past year has been horrendous with all the hormonal changes and "signs" with boob pain galore, bloating, etc. And it's lasting WEEKS instead of a few days. I keep telling my doctor to rip my ovaries out and she laughs and pats my hand and says I'll get through it. Um, I will, but perhaps not without a permanent record in my future...

My pooches are just getting done at the groomers and it's my girl's first time there so I'm all excited for her. My boy was prancing around there wanting to show her the ropes and my pretty princess was looking around like, "what am I doing up at this un-godly hour??" LOL I have loads of errands I'm doing today (grocery shopped at 7am!) to get a jump start on the weekend, which will mostly consist of cleaning out the bathrooms and laundry room for the plumber to come tear things up on Monday. It was an awful week so I'm sooooo happy to have four days away from work to have a lighter heart and mind.

Enjoy the symphony and time out of the house and away from all the wreckage of this week. I'm thinking about praying for you guys! xoxoxoxo
