Survival Mode Put Us Back to Zero

A lot of you came here many moons ago when I left Sparkpeople.  I loved the community of that place and the support I got there.  It was at the height of us being on our game.  That motivation you have in the beginning when you're consistently rewarded with weight loss, smaller clothes, compliments to keep your motivation high and you somehow begin to step out of being invisible to the public to people smiling at you, opening doors or striking up conversation.  You start to feel human.  You don't have to worry about going to restaurants or 'fitting' somewhere.  You can go to a wedding and see those God awful thin folding chairs and while you still don't like them, you're not concerned.  Many of your worries that fit people never had to think of, have faded away.  We started for the long haul in our 30's and that's when we had the most success, losing 226 and 190 lbs respectively.  When we went on vacation, as long as we came back and got rig...

Fun Filled Weekend

Happy Monday all!  Can you believe it's October?

Friday evening, we went apple picking with my friend.

There was a nice breeze and it was 15 degrees cooler than it was the previous Friday when we were originally supposed to go so it worked out for sure.  It was her first time and she seemed to enjoy it.  So now I have a HUGE bag of apples I need to figure out what to do with.  I'm sure I'll think of something.

Saturday we went out to lunch and hit a few antique stores.

I got excited when I saw these...

They reminded me of the spice cabinet I saw in Graceland.  Elvis liked Gladys  (affiliate link) to make it spicy, yo!

There was a farm not too far away and we went to the fields to see what we wanted to stock up on.

We decided on green beans.  It reminded me of when I was a kid and I would help my grandma (paternal side) in the garden.  The Mr had never done that before and after seeing how many beans you could (or couldn't) get off of a single plant exactly why our "harvest" of five beans for our putrid little plants was only slightly below average.  It's nice to know there are still new things we can do together even if it's manual labor.  Our side dishes will taste that much better now that we worked for them.

We also couldn't help but check out the most sincere pumpkin patch...

Sunday we got in our workout early, had brunch and did a small grocery refuel before heading out to our friend's wedding.  It was absolutely gorgeous and they lucked out with amazing weather.  So that was our day from 3:30pm on and then boom...again...weekend over.

I've got some stuff to get wrapped up this week and looking forward to some down time soon because I can't keep up with this break neck pace.

What did you guys get into this weekend?

  2. Not a lot here this weekend. I took my son to the Lego Ninjago movie on Saturday, and then Kingsman 2 last night. That was my big splurge for the weekend. I'll be hitting the pumpkin patch in a few weeks.

  3. So glad you had such an awesome weekend all the way around! And I'm glad your friend had fun with the apple picking and you guys were blessed with such good weather. Makes all the difference!

I was thrilled with the temps, and although it's going to get hot tomorrow, it's supposed to go right back down by Wednesday, so I'll take it. =o)
