What I'm Reading This Week #33
Good morning to you! Friday is finally here and that's a good reason to take a hooky day. You know, for mental health reasons. 😁 Remember when it felt like you had to give an actual excuse when you wanted to call in back in the day? Then if you said you were sick and you really just wanted to go to lunch, a movie and maybe hit the grocery store on the way home, you had to pray you didn't run into anyone from work to bust you, like it was illegal or something. 🙄 I guess that's something that's changed for the better is not having to lie about why you're out. The workouts this week have been absolutely kicking our butts! We thought the band workout was hard then I was like "we should do Powerstrike to see where we are". Remember that dream sequence in Dumb and Dumber where Lloyd puts the dude's heart in a doggie bag, folds it up and hands it to the guy? It was like Powerstrike doing that with our asses. Then the followi...
Good, if I have time at work I will have some good reading today. Mahalo!
ReplyDeleteI've been reading (grading) kids' papers and I'm always reading at least one book. Right now it's a creepy one that I can't read right before bedtime. I had to turn on an old episode of Friends last night in order to be able to sleep.
ReplyDeleteI just finished Eleanor & Park, a young adult novel by Rainbow Rowell, who happens to be a cousin of mine. It is a wonderfully well written novel, about two 16-year-olds and their journey as they fall madly and deeply in love, meeting and beating obstacles along the way, and hoping that their love can last forever. Now I'm going to start Rainbow's first novel,a novel written for adults called Attachments. I hope it is as good as Eleanor & Park. I also sadly bought two books about prostate cancer, since hubby was just diagnosed. We are beginning a totally different kind of journey today than Eleanor & Park experienced, as we're heading out this morning for CT and PET scans. Wish us luck. (I think one of the reasons I loved E&P so much, is because it reminded me of hubby & my own's experience as we fell in love as teenagers, over 40 years ago. Sometimes that first love does last!
ReplyDeleteI just ordered Phillipa gregory's a respectacle trade...loving it...want to go home and continue:(
ReplyDeleteI'm reading lightweight fiction these days and really enjoying the relaxation. I also enjoyed your link to the 50 date-night ideas; I got some great ideas for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm reading a fun romance story as well as a very good book called The Compulsive Overeater. I also do daily read books for both Al-Anon and OA and those are always good. Funny how the day I pick to read is exactly what I need to see at that exact moment. Cracks me up every time!
ReplyDeleteGreat articles, thanks for sharing, I am reading The Perks of Being a Wallflower. I usually have about 3 books going and pick one depending on my mood each day.
