Belated Weekend Recap

Hola peeps and happy Tuesday.  Anyone else get engulfed by the wildfire smoke over the weekend?  Three days straight for us with lots of air quality alerts.  I hope my Canadian friends are doing okay. It was a bit of a lazy weekend to start until it wasn't.  (Thanks to me, I'm sure the Mr is mumbling under his breath.). I have been throwing myself into projects this month to keep myself from spiraling over Mom's birthday this week.  Not to mention constantly fighting every aspect of gardening and I swear I typed that sentence before that last time I tried in 2020.  I have fungus gnats in the elevated planters because of all of the damn rain we've been getting and the soil can't dry out for them to die off.  So I got some mosquito dunks that can be cut into 1/8's and put into a gallon of water overnight and then water the area to kill the larvae then dry the soil to kill the adults.  This is apparently common with organic gardening but frustrating...

What I'm Reading This Week #17

Time for Friday which means planning weekend shenanigans should be afoot!  Well, the carpet thing as far as the obscene amount we have left went nowhere.  They gave an excuse which measurement wise makes no sense, swore we weren't charged for it and now we have a friggin' roll left to figure out what the hell to do with it.  Do you know how many times over the past 8 years we have said the phrase "we'll figure it out?"

7,422.

I'M. TIRED. OF. HAVING. TO. FIGURE. IT. OUT!!!!!!  You listening up there, Sir or Madam?  Can we please be done??  The only thing we got was a service call which they were late for to fix the gap which yay but shouldn't have been there in the first place.  Rat bastards.  The worst of it is when you look up the reviews for the place after the fact (because they don't tell you who it is before or you'd never buy through them).  This place gets one star out of like 20 reviews over the years.  They apparently don't only screw up carpet but they also screw up door and kitchen installations.  So thank goodness we got our kitchen done 5 years ago.

Monday I got the Bondo on the bottom of the newel post where wood filler failed.  OMG, that stuff smells like crap!  I had to keep the back door open and run the fan for a few hours.  But it's kind of the last 'fixer' step needed before I can move forward with the painting and finishing (ugh and polying) of the newel post.  Not like I sanded it this week or anything.  Now I just have to remember where all of the trim and embellishments got to. Mid-afternoon my friend's brother came over to get our grill.  The big huge one. It allowed us to get a smaller one which we're thankful for so it doesn't look like it's trying to eat the patio like the other one.  He already sent us a video of him grilling on ours so it's getting good use already.

I've been hardening off my cooler weather seedlings of lettuce, arugula, spinach and radishes this week so they're ready to plant next week if the weather will allow.  I'm not going to plant if it says there's going to be any frost in the immediate future.  I pre-ordered clematis back in early February from Holland Bulb and it was past the time it was supposed to ship and then said it was out of stock.  I don't think so.  I sent an email and suddenly within two days, I had it shipped across the country.  Mmm hmm.

Last night as I was putting salmon on hold in the oven, it looked like a cavern.  Lights burnt out in the top oven.  If you think I'm paying for a service call to take care of that, you're nuts.  For the foreseeable future, I will use a headlamp if I have to because I have no idea how much oven lights are.

It's the last weekend of April already.  We've gotten so much done this month which is nice but also much more to do.  I don't know if any of that is on the menu for the weekend or not but we'll see what we get into.

What are you getting into this weekend?
