Non Scale Victories This Week

During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses.  I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses.  My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights.  Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through.  On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower.  I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. What I'm Reading This Week #39

Yeesh, how is it the last Friday of September?  I remember in February when we said "before we know it, we're going to blink and it's going to be Fall" and thinking how far it seemed then but we were right.  So enjoy the final week of pumpkin spice season before it takes a spooky turn to all things Halloween because you're gonna blink again and I'm going to have our tree up!

For most of the week, it was feeling like fall so we took advantage with a lot of walks but first let's get to the eats.

Monday was Lobster Ravioli and veggies.

Workout was a walk around the park.

Tuesday was BBQ pork chop with almond stuffing and veggies.

Workout was a walk around Grandma's cemetery.

Wednesday was cod with rice and Brussels.

Workout was walk in the park in the rain.

Thursday was General Tso's Chicken with cauli-rice.

Workout was walk around local cemetery with hills.

Now let's walk into...

10 Evidence-Based Health Benefits of Cinnamon  (Cardiologists recommend 1/2 tsp a day of a specific kind to lower cholesterol.  (50/50 chance you have it in your kitchen)  I'm on it!  Thanks to the Mr for finding this!)

10 Powerful Relationship Tools  (These are all so good and so true!)

Lessons on growing older with grace  (Lessons we can all use)

Hawaii Will Remove Its Famous 'Stairway to Heaven'  (So sad but needs to be done because people are lolo and don't mind breaking the law for that perfect IG shot.)

Just in case the last article didn't convince you...This New Shortage Is Hitting Shoppers at the Worst Time Yet, Experts Warn  (Santa is going to have to potentially forego sales this year if you don't want a disappointed kid Christmas morning!  Start your shopping now!)

There's a crap ton of activities going on this weekend which means we'll participate in none of them.  That's all I'm saying about that.  I think I finally got in all of my friends Christmas presents so I might go ahead and wrap those.  I actually have the slider open and the fireplace going because I want the best of both worlds.  So maybe it's time to fire up the Christmas music of my youth and get wrappin' under the same conditions!

Whatchu up to this weekend?

  1. We have been sleeping in two XL twins for many years and it has made a huge difference.

My husband twitches and “jumps”, I am a super light sleeper.

Added bonus - We have raised the heads of both beds on blocks and that made a big difference for both of us too. (We could do that because they were twins with no center support.)

I have had friends sleeping in queens, getting ready to buy kings, who have done two XL twins instead and been very pleasantly surprised.

  2. I have my shopping done too and half of it is wrapped; the rest I'm waiting to be delivered. There was something I bought that was supposed to be delivered between the 23rd - 27th, and I just checked today and it's now on back order until mid-October! Argh! This weekend is the hubs birthday and our anniversary, so we'll have today and tomorrow together since we both work on Sunday. Doing errands together today and then I work tomorrow night, which should be interesting with some people coming into town for work that's going to cause some stirrings I have no doubt. Temps are supposed to be in the 80s for the next week, so it's back to 3/4 sleeves after getting to wear long sleeves this week.
    Have a super weekend!

  3. Haven't thought about Christmas, still mourning summer!
Off to baby shower in Iowa, roadtrip!
    Enjoy your weekend

  4. Glad my shopping is all done because it does look like it's gonna be rough for retailers and shipping companies this season. Have a great weekend everybody!
