Non Scale Victories This Week

During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses.  I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses.  My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights.  Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through.  On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower.  I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. Happy October!

Good Monday morning everyone and happy October 1st!

It's Halloween season!  Break out your decorations!

It was a somewhat low key weekend.  I was feeling pretty crippled Friday and Saturday.  In addition to our normal workouts, being sore from all the crap the chiro did to me and then cleaning someone's house for 2 1/2 hours my body so waved the white flag.  Once we got out and about and I popped a super ibuprofen (not my first choice), I was decent.  We couldn't go too far because the Mr had the potential for overtime and while he said we could go wherever we wanted with a lump in his throat, I knew better.  The farthest we went was 30 minutes outside of town because I wanted a pumpkin donut that wasn't affiliated with a horrible chain and it was pretty good.  Not worth the drive but it was nice to drive in the country a bit.  We went to a nursery because I was going to get mums but I see the temps are supposed to be in the 80's this week.  Dear Weather, you ruined the last part of Spring and ALL of Summer, you don't get to do the same to Fall.  Signed, Me (and a lot of other people)

So I decided against getting mums that are just going to fry out there in the blazing heat (yes, 80's is considered blazing heat when you reach October) so we ran over to Home Depot.  They had corn stalks and some cute pumpkins out so we got two of each and put them out front to make the house look a little more Fall-ish.  I need to look up how to prune a Japanese maple.  Ours is out of control even with pairing it back.  Then we took a nap (I can't seem to sleep past 5:30am these days and it catches up), watched some football on and off while I worked and I headed up by 12:30am.  Thankfully the Mr didn't have to do much Saturday overtime wise but still got a couple hours in with monitoring and phone calls.  Overall, it was the perfect fall day though I could've used a few degrees cooler.  My happy temp is 62.

Sunday the Mr woke up with a pretty bad headache that stuck with him most of the day like I suspected he would.  Between OT looming, him gnawing on his nails during football like he had the mortgage riding on it and potential for OT again on Sunday, I knew Sunday was going to be in da pooper.  I got the laundry started, made brunch (grilled chicken and pumpkin waffles from TJ's with fruit).  I threw a roast in the crockpot for dinner and while he tried to sleep it off, then soak it off in a hot bath after a massage, I did some work and talked to a few people about the swirlies that are their lives right now.  He finally took something then we went out to grab some spices I needed and then I also needed to hold a puppy.

Puppy butt makes EVERYTHING better!

He grabbed our yogurt and strawberries for the week and we came home and did our Turbo Fire HIIT 30 and thankfully dinner was all ready when we were done.  We watched SNL and that's about it for our weekend.

What did y'all get into?

  1. Work did hold us back a bit this weekend but at least that is all out of the way now and we can make up for it next weekend. Have a great week everybody!

  2. Happy Monday!
Fall has the opposite effect on me. I had to turn the heat on which makes me sad. Alot of mapping, tea and decluttering

  3. Friday was cold and dreary and kind of misted all day long. Saturday and Sunday were sunny but clear and still in the mid-low 80s, which is pretty much right on par for this time of year here. My folks were here for the weekend, and I had a lot of papers to grade. A Lot. So they got some good grandkid time, and I spent all weekend working.

  4. I managed to get a lot of work done in the garden on Saturday to get it ready for winter, including mowing the lawn for hopefully the last time, and then we went out to dinner at a fine dining place that is closing forever due to the chef having become too busy with his other restaurants and young family. We then spent Sunday morning having massages at the local hotel and lounging around making use of their other services before going shopping for pumpkins.

  5. Mine was a half productive/half lazy weekend. The hubs had to work so I did the grocery shopping after my meeting. I got through a lot of paperwork, which I was quite happy about, but then tanked after that. I took a long nap and I believe he fell asleep for a while as well. Neither of us was very hungry and both of us were tired so we decided to postpone our anniversary dinner until next weekend. Sunday was a very lazy day with me just finishing laundry and doing some basic cleaning and then gluing my backside in the living room for most of the day. It was cool and rainy so couldn't get much done outside at all. We due to have rain every single day this week so I can only imagine how high the grass will be by the time we can cut it.
