Halfway Through September Weekend Recap

Howdy-eth Do-eth?  Anyone else in the 90's today and the rest of this week?  🤬  It's like summer is getting out its last wrath or something.  Not to say when the calendar flips to 'official' Fall that it will suddenly drop in temps but I did see low 80's on the horizon even though my body is quite ready for 60's, sweatshirts and fuzzy socks.  But I know at least one or two Indian summers or whatever people younger than me in the PC realm call Satan bursts await in October.  I am happy to say I was able to get into the basement Friday and that pic from Friday's post is actually a reality on top!  It still looks like steaming garbage on the floor but I do what I can.   Saturday we decided to drive and find a Town de la Podunk and see what we could get into.  When we arrived at said place, we had a swing and a miss for an old fashioned donut shop.  For the love of God, they are not dinner rolls dunked in DQ chocolate dip cone sauce....

Hotel Review: The Henry: Autograph Collection

I did a phone picture purge recently and guess what I meant to do last December?  Review our time at The Henry hotel in Dearborn, Michigan when we went to the Holiday Nights at Greenfield Village at the Henry Ford Museum!  Derp!  So that'll be why you see Christmas decor, but it's good year round.  Let's poke around the room and halls!

The elevators have some painted elements that I think were supposed to mimic the moldings on the walls but it just made me feel like I was in My Big Fat Greek Wedding.

We got a king room it was quite spacious.

It had a nice desk area that could double as a dining table for two.

The bed was actually really comfy and coming from a girl who is repeatedly hobbling out of hotels from concrete mattresses, that's a heck of an endorsement.

Room service is available if you don't want to go to the mall across the parking lot.

The bathroom is spacious and well stocked.

The bathroom shower is pretty big, and it has a handle if you want to take a bath and then hoist your bum outta there.

There's a convenient little coffee/tea station as well as a mini-fridge if you've got leftovers from a local restaurant or you want to bring something with you.

Lots of hangers in the closet and a decent iron and ironing board.  It didn't end up with a ton of "spit" all over my clothes, so that's a big plus since it seems to be a consistent problem in hotels.

You can get breakfast delivered, and I'll let you decide by the prices plus the 20% gratuity and $3 delivery fee if you'd go for it or not.  (We didn't because we cheap, yo)

The lobby has some fun, cozy nooks to hang out in.  I loved this infinity fireplace.  Tres chic.

The main lobby was decorated beautifully with a lovely big tree for the holiday season.

Their onsite restaurant, Tria, is an excellent option if you want to just hang for the night.

When you round the corner to head to the elevators, you notice some of their beautiful art.

They actually have an onsite art gallery, The Park West Gallery!

The third on the bottom was my favorite since it was kind of this awesome stacked acrylic that had a 3D effect.

They have a modern fitness center with a wide array of exercise machines and weights to choose from.

They also have a pool that included a hot tub that has a lift if someone is disabled and needs assistance getting in.

If you're planning a trip to the Dearborn/Detroit area, I would totally recommend this hotel!  It can be a little tricky to find on your first go round because of the way the ramps are set up on that freeway, but it wouldn't deter us from staying there in the future.  We paid $328 for two nights with all taxes and fees included in that total but then got $20.12 back by booking through Ebates(Affiliate link)  The staff was all very friendly, and valet parking is available, but self-parking is on site.  There is a mall just across the way if you want something to do and we never heard any noise or ruckus from the area.  ("Could you describe the ruckus, sir?"  Points if you got the reference.)
