First taste of Fall workout

Yesterday it was amazingly wonderful temperature wise...66 degrees.  It felt like San Francisco but without all of the awesome.  I grabbed the lightweight long sleeved active shirt I usually wear over my thermals for snow shoeing and it kept me perfectly comfortable since there was a little breeze.  We thought it would be a good time to do a leisurely paddle so as not to irritate the Mr's shoulder and see how he'd do.  I helped him pump the paddleboard up when it started giving resistance to keep his shoulder happy.

Unfortunately, I had a raging headache that only got worse as I paddled.  (It was a tension headache so that's why...sigh)  But I was still able to take some phone pics and enjoy the scenery.

I was happy to see little peeks of early changing leaves here and there.

I explored a few coves.

Took in the rocky cliffs.

We had a few bird friends along the way.  (middle of the pic)

By the time we got back, my headache was in overdrive and unfortunately dinner didn't help so it was med time.  I was grateful for lasagna leftovers though because in three minutes, it was done and ready to eat!  Hallelu-yer fer leftovers!

Spent the rest of the night chillin'.

Do you workout when you have a headache?  Leftovers...yay or nay?

  1. It was good to get out while it was cooler so we know what to expect as the leaves turn and as the weather turns to fall. I think we'll be fine but I am glad you ordered some paddling pants as I am sure wearing shorts will be a problem by about October - even for a diehard shorts wearer like me!

    1. Yes it was. I enjoyed it and wished the cooler weather would stick around. I hope the pants work out for us. I'd like to paddle as long as possible, into November if we can! Could you imagine a Thanksgiving morning paddle! :-)

  2. As a single woman who lives alone (yay no roomies!), I live on leftovers.
Certain things definitely taste better as leftovers - ratatouille, chili, Chinese food

    1. Chili is so much better day 2! Sometimes I'll even make "second day chili", put it in the fridge and we don't eat it until the next day. I'm making it next week!

  3. Up to a certain point I function as normal with a headache (including working out) but after a certain level of pain I can only walk or do low impact stuff, another notch up and I basically crawling to the darkest quietest corner of my house and even that much movement hurts.

The early changing leaves are pretty. Around here they won't be changing for a while, and some years they just dry up and drop off without ever changing. I'm hoping to head up to the mountains at least once this fall to enjoy the changing leaves there.

I wish I had a pretty lake like that around here. The closest lake is kind of yucky. People do camp/swim/boat/fish there, but when a minority of people leaves their nasty trash around it kind of ruins it for the responsible majority.

    1. Yeah I was right on the cusp of the dark corner but the Mr graciously rubbed my face, jaw and neck. I had to laugh a few times because I could only imagine how it looked!

Oh we saw some floating water bottles, beer cans and such floating or left on shore. I really wish they had ranger enforcement that would fine people for leaving trash that are disguised as yakkers.

  4. I'll work out through a headache but not stomach stuff. Love left overs on those rough nights!

    1. I'll work out through most of it but only if I have that light sensitivity will I say no dice...well that and bathroom runs because why tempt fate? Leftovers rock on the rough nights!

  5. I try to medicate my headaches before they turn into anything more. Having had them for so long, I don't want to tolerate that kind of pain anymore. First inkling and out comes the aleve. Leftovers are our lunches the next day here, so heck yes to the leftovers! I can't imagine how we would have survived without them when the kids were little.
Do you feel like you should pick up the litter when your out there, but don't because cleaning up after the entire world isn't your damn job? I feel that way whenever we are walking around town or on the trails here. It's just not that hard to be a respectful person and take out your trash! Used to really tick me off when garbage from the street behind our house would get blown into our yard, so every garbage day I was in the back yard picking up various paper and plastic crap. Finally ended when a neighbor put up a fence. Now it all pools against their fence.

  6. I do workout when I have headaches because even though it might get worse while I'm exerting myself, it's usually better after I'm done and have done my cool down. Not always, but sometimes I luck out. As for leftovers I'm not as good with them as I should be, although I have gotten better with having leftover dinner for lunch the next day because I hate figuring out what to have to lunch and get tired of my usual pb&j sandwich and yogurt with grapes--that gets old after a while. But ironically, I'm having leftovers today from the chicken manicotti I made last night. LOL
