Belated Weekend Recap

Hola peeps and happy Tuesday.  Anyone else get engulfed by the wildfire smoke over the weekend?  Three days straight for us with lots of air quality alerts.  I hope my Canadian friends are doing okay. It was a bit of a lazy weekend to start until it wasn't.  (Thanks to me, I'm sure the Mr is mumbling under his breath.). I have been throwing myself into projects this month to keep myself from spiraling over Mom's birthday this week.  Not to mention constantly fighting every aspect of gardening and I swear I typed that sentence before that last time I tried in 2020.  I have fungus gnats in the elevated planters because of all of the damn rain we've been getting and the soil can't dry out for them to die off.  So I got some mosquito dunks that can be cut into 1/8's and put into a gallon of water overnight and then water the area to kill the larvae then dry the soil to kill the adults.  This is apparently common with organic gardening but frustrating...

What I'm Reading This Week #21

Happy Friday all!  I am beyond thrilled to not having to babysit seedlings indoors anymore.  I know I need to babysit them outside now but I am going to have to do some serious research on how to stop algae and white mold because I feel like I tried all of the tricks and nothing helped.  I can't wait for them to actually bloom.  Well, my cantaloupe have flowers on them.  I guess I'll have to get some knee high panty hose to hang them from on the trellis.  I'll be keeping my eye on those bucket crops because I know it won't be long before critters try to come after them and when they do, I have insect nets waiting for them.  HISS!  So we'll see how phase two goes.

Now let's phase into:

5 Best Compound Exercises to Strengthen Your Whole Body  (Get twice as much done in half the time!)

10 Anti-Inflammatory Foods You Should Be Eating, According to Registered Dietitians  (I wish I liked avocados, maybe if I made a sassy guac/salsa combo with the tomatoes?)

Seven Ways Gaining Muscle Can Benefit Your Health  (Start shinin' those guns baby dolls!)

A Guide to Freezing Practically Any Food  (I'm already seeing prices moving up.  It's only gonna get worse, y'all.  If you haven't invested in the Food Saver I've been raving about for over 13 years, now is the time!)

Why We Stick Our Tongue Out When We Concentrate  (The Mr does this when he is screwing together tables or cutting with the multitool.  It's so cute because he looks like Linus from Peanuts when he does it and it's hard not to bust out laughing.)

The Post-Forties Villain Era (This is so true.  It would shock most people in my life to know their assumptions of me are so far off the mark they probably know more about strangers.)

Who's Really Behind the Rise in Family Estrangements?  (I totally agree that people like to blame the therapist for the reasons given.  However, my therapist was quick to basically suggest it for the family I have left.  I feel I have good boundaries and there are some things that have happened that would blow things up and I have no desire to do that just to hold people accountable.  If you do feel your therapist is suggesting cutting people off and you don't agree, calmly explain why and ask for techniques less extreme to help you, which I did.)

Anyone got a million bucks they don't need?  (I've been drooling over this house for weeks.  Just thought I'd show you where I'd be inviting you guys for canning and gardening sesh's in the future.)

Miss posts this week?  Catch up below!

I had no idea until midweek but apparently it's Memorial Day weekend.  Uhhh...okay.  I'm really hoping the cooler weather forecasted will keep the hootin' hollerers that usually show up not too far away from our place at bay.  People act like they haven't stepped outside since last Fall and act a fool.  I would much prefer burgers and blankies on the patio.

Any holiday weekend shenanigans planned for you?
