Le Hump Day Survey

I don't know why I went French with that but it's time to get started on some mindlessness, oui?

What do you wish your phone could do?  Send a notification when you're 10 miles from something awesome on a road trip so you could decide if it's worth seeing or ignore.

What’s your favorite international food?  Depends on my mood.  I love Hawaiian, Italian and sometimes Chinese.  (I do NOT like German food.  Hurl.)

Would you rather watch a movie on your TV at home or on the big screen in the theater, and why?  Pandemic aside...I would love to be able to be with others in a theater but people suck.  We have tried going to several films that they bring back to theaters like Grease, Jurassic Park, etc and people ruin it every time.  Between being on their phone with their huge glowing screens to reciting every line of dialogue (yes, we ALL know it and we don't want to hear YOU saying it), it's just not fun anymore.  The only theater I enjoy is the occasional drive in because you don't have to deal with them directly near you.

What’s the longest trip you’ve been on?  So far, Hawaiian Islands for a month.

What was something you thought would be easy until you tried it?  A pogo stick.  Not easy.  At all.

What smell do you hate that doesn’t seem to bother other people?  Greek food cooking.  It literally turns my stomach so you can imagine the fun when the Mr gets a gyro.

How well do you know your neighbors?  Well, one is a witch that has lived next to us for 25 years this moment and the other got SWAT called on him at the beginning of a pandemic for threatening his wife and 6 cops so yeah.  Too well.

What’s your idea of a great party?  One that has multiple dogs for me to focus on.

How good are you at drawing?  I wouldn't say good but I could play Win, Lose or Draw if I had to.

How do you feel about clowns?  I'm not scared of them but don't particularly like them.  They make my hand ball up.

What is your favorite genre of movie? Why?  Comedy.  Who doesn't want to laugh?

Where’s the most surreal area you've been to?  Probably either Badlands National Park or Devils Tower in Wyoming.

What are common misconceptions about your job?  That I make money from it.

What’s the most outdated piece of tech you still use regularly?  We still have and use the original iPod in the car.  It's not dead, why on Earth would we get rid of it when it still works?

What’s the weirdest food you’ve eaten?  Chocolate covered squid.

Your turn, je taime!  Pick a few or all questions to answer in the comments!

  1. What’s your favorite international food? Mexican and Italian

Would you rather watch a movie on your TV at home or on the big screen in the theater, and why? I do enjoy the movie theater. For my birthday a couple of years ago we went to see Secret Life of Pets 2 and we were the only ones in the theater because everyone else was at the newest movie that just came out. It was awesome because I laughed like a goof and had such a fun time.

What’s the longest trip you’ve been on? Three week trip to Europe to visit seven countries

What smell do you hate that doesn’t seem to bother other people? Coffee I like the smell of the beans down the coffee aisle at a store, but when I smell it brewed...blech.

How well do you know your neighbors? Not very well. We know a little bit of some of them, but it's mostly artificial chit chat we do.

What are common misconceptions about your job? That I'm naive

What’s the most outdated piece of tech you still use regularly? Probably my land line and my standard radio in my car.

  2. What do you wish your phone could do? Have more memory and force apps onto the SD card instead of internal memory

What’s your favorite international food? That's tough. I love Mexican food, Italian food, Chinese food if I'm in the mood, I really enjoyed the food in Spain and Portugal when I travelled there years ago. I don't like seafood in any style from anywhere.

Would you rather watch a movie on your TV at home or on the big screen in the theater, and why? Depends on the movie.

What’s the longest trip you’ve been on? Actual longest or seemed the longest? Actual longest was probably one of the road trips when I was a kid. Come to think of it, that felt the longest too.

What was something you thought would be easy until you tried it? So many DIY projects

What smell do you hate that doesn’t seem to bother other people? Fish cooking

How well do you know your neighbors? Enough to say hello and make small talk, not enough to borrow a cup of sugar.

What’s your idea of a great party? "great" and "party" don't belong in the same sentence. I have too much social anxiety for that.

How good are you at drawing? not at all

How do you feel about clowns? Don't like them, but not scared of them

What is your favorite genre of movie? Why? Depends on my mood. Comedy, horror (mix the two and you have a winner), action, sci fi, fantasy. I enjoy mindless entertainment as a way to wind down.

Where’s the most surreal area you been to? I see why you say the Badlands and Devil's Tower. For me though, probably snorkeling off a boat in very deep water. It was like everything was upside down and I didn't like it at all.

What are common misconceptions about your job? So many, but I'll stay off my soapbox.

What’s the most outdated piece of tech you still use regularly? My washing maching is over 20 years old, does that count?

  3. What’s your favorite international food? Chinese, Mexican and Italian

Would you rather watch a movie on your TV at home or on the big screen in the theater, and why? I am mostly fine with movies at home now unless it is a Star Wars movie - then it's kind of a must for me to see it in the theater, although that was before the last one. I may not care as much with any future ones.

What’s the longest trip you’ve been on? A full month in Hawaii!

What smell do you hate that doesn’t seem to bother other people? I am the same way with Coffee. I love how the beans smell but once you brew that I cannot stand it.

How well do you know your neighbors? Well enough to know not to associate with one and just be friendly enough to have small talk with the other.

What are common misconceptions about your job? That I just fix computers all day still. Haven't done that particular job in 20 years!

What’s the most outdated piece of tech you still use regularly? Headphones that are not bluetooth.
