What I'm Reading This Week #27

If you've been reading my posts, you know I haven't had time to sit down and read much this week. My long holiday weekend (Friday- Wednesday) was spent getting shizz done so computer time was a luxury.

But let's cannon ball into...

The 30 Best Things You Can Do This Summer to Jump Start Your Weight Loss Again  (Pretty common sense stuff)

Here’s What Podiatrists Really Think About Your Flip-Flops  (Mine was very adamant that every person should stay FAR away from them and if you had to wear them get ones with good arch support like these. (affiliate)  My screwed up feet swear by them!)

10 Things to Do Immediately After Your Flight Is Canceled or Delayed  (Still having nightmares from AA in Hawaii last year.  Our investment in travel insurance didn't alleviate the panic I feel when I think of flying now but it helped get us reimbursed quickly so I recommend it for big trips or long flights off  of the continental US.)

These 3 Moves Will Give You the Best Butt  (You can add bending over and painting a fence to that list)

7 New Etiquette Rules for Modern Weddings  (Follow 'em, especially the last one)

Turns Out Those Annoying Little Strings on Bananas Have a Name — And a Purpose  (I don't know why those things make me gag)

8 Secrets of Couples Who Are Always Happy Together  (Pretty spot on)

Baby boomers are downsizing — and the kids won’t take the family heirlooms  (Really interesting article.  Ask the kids now if there's anything they want and then give it to them if you're downsizing. No need to wait until you're taking a dirt nap to do it especially if you're not using or enjoying the item!)

10 Things You Need to Clean Every Week — And 5 Things You're Cleaning Too Much  (Good to know!)

How to Have a Fun Family Road Trip Without Breaking Your Budget  (All good tips.  We will sometimes leave in the middle of the night so that we aren't hitting rush hour in a big city.  Done that more times than we can count.)

What Your Grieving Friend Really Needs  (Very good advice at a time when we're often struggling with what can truly help someone deal with a tremendous loss.)

I guess I bookmarked more than I realized!  HA!  Yesterday as I was finishing another DIY project, I realized once I painted it that I was going to need to paint what I was hanging it over.  BALLS!  So I got to paint 2 doors and trim which was a pain in my ample butt but listening to disco makes it go by much quicker.  I just have to build the second project, paint and hang it and I am DONE!  (Until next week, I'm sure.  WTH is wrong with me!?!)

Now, truly this weekend we are going to relax...much to the Mr's delight!  It's supposed to be much cooler and it's the perfect weekend for a road trip paddle.  We'll grab a picnic lunch from a local deli, strap up the collapsible cooler  (affiliate link) on the back of his paddle board for a picnic and enjoy some paddling in a no wake zone.  We SOOOO need this!

What are you up to this weekend?

  1. Yes I am sooo looking forward to that paddle as well. Oh, and I can vouch for the flip flops with arch support. Basically wearing those things in the house, and adding the same insoles to my shoes, is what got rid of my plantar fasciitis pain completely. Highly recommended!

  3. Relax, relax, relax!! There best not be a hammer or glue gun in sight! LOL You've had one heck of a week and are getting projects done left and right. Good on ya, mate! =o)

Meeting tomorrow, then laundry and cutting the lawn. I am tuckered out today and my ankles are still screaming at me from yesterday, so hopefully they'll cooperate in the morning. Several parks are still shut down because of flooding so have to find somewhere new to take the pooches.
