Summer Holiday Weekend Recap

Hello and happy Monday to you!  Did you melt this weekend?  My Lord it was hot.  And what do you do when you're us on a hot weekend?  Dig out a tree obviously.   😑   Remember the pic of the tree from last week after the landscapers hacked it up? It went bye-bye.  We were going to attempt to save it to possibly see if my friend could plant it at her new home (even though it should be done when dormant.)  Well, after determining the roots attach to the Earth's core, we had to scrap that idea.  We tried to get out early enough but it wasn't.  We hacked off the top in sections using some really great pruning shears that made that job super easy then the Mr lobbed off the top so we could begin on the roots.  We bought a shovel called the Root Slayer and I will say it did an amazing job getting through most of it.  Neither of us are at our strongest right now so despite knowing we could've continued with chipping away at ...

Food Review: Friendly Farms Tropical Fruit Greek Yogurt

We've been Trader Joe's yogurt peeps for a few years now.  When I kept hearing bloggers talk about Aldi's new organic section, we had to go check it out.  Well, I think ours is behind the times because I don't consider four veggies a vast array of organic.

What did catch our eye was this yogurt...

Pineapple and passion fruit?  I'm on it!

Here's a look at the nutritional info...

(Ignore the expiration date, I meant to do this post awhile ago but you know, life.)

Here's a peek at the rest of the info...

Looks like your usual yogurt.

But on the bottom is your hunks o' tropical paradise.  (The last batch was mixed though so they might've changed it to be premixed now.)

So how does it taste?

We LOVE it!  It has 6g less sugar than TJ's, 20 calories less, $.30 cheaper and 100% better flavor.  I have half of one every morning with other stuff and the Mr has it some mornings as well.  We never bought the same yogurt flavors but we both agree this is delicious.  With TJ's yogurt, I always had to force it down a little but I actually look forward to this and the little chunks of pineapple in there.  It's available at Aldi, which is part of the Trader Joe's family so how's that for a small yogurt world in our household?

What's your favorite flavor of yogurt or do you hate it?

  1. It's good stuff. I just had some in my smoothie as a matter of fact!

  2. There are a lot of flavors I like. I tend to stay away from the berry ones, but I really like peach and vanilla.

  3. I am definitely a peach/apricot fan. I also like mango, strawberry, and raspberry. Blueberry and vanilla are the last two flavours in a mixed pack that remain in my fridge. I kinda have to choke those down or I try to pawn them off on my boyfriend in his lunches.

  4. I'm all about anything pineapple. I really like cherry and blueberry as well. What I'm not a fan of is the strawberry/banana combo-- I find I don't like that combo in anything, which is weird, because I like both of those things separately.
