Hide and Seek Weekend Recap

It's Monday again!   source I'll probably be lapsing into cartoon speak because ever since we saw that major companies are purging the cartoons of our youth we've been buying up what we don't already have.  A Scooby Doo , two Looney Tunes and another Sesame Street from our era since the Public Television that's been teaching children for decades has been defunded.  If you listen to nothing else I say, buy physical copies of your favorites and do it quick.  Prices on DVD's are going to skyrocket once these are pulled for good this year and right now you can get many between $12-60 depending on how many episodes are on each bundle or if you get the entire series.  Physical copies means they can't revoke digital rights copies you buy for cheaper when disputes pop up and someone gets their undies in a twist and takes their toys and goes home taking all of the copies you paid for with it. *stepping off of soapbox* Another low key weekend for the most part....

Cookout Recipe Round Up

I don't know if you guys are cookout people but if you are, chances are you're looking to start planning your menu for the upcoming July 4th holiday weekend.  (Or next Saturday for those in other countries.  I mean really, do we need a reason to grill out?  I think not!)  If you need some ideas on what to make without breaking the calorie bank, allow me to make a few suggestions!

Tri-Color Potato Salad

Roasted Red Pepper Sloppy Joes

Roasted Tomatillo Salsa

Lemon Shake Up

BBQ Beef Sliders

Rainbow Kebobs with Mango Chipotle Shrimp

What are some of your favorite cookout foods?

  3. I just recently found your blog and am SO encouraged! I too have tried just about EVERY diet out there, but refuse to get the surgery. I think that your way of approaching this is so common sense and long-term. I have begun to have a similar approach and am having success too. Thanks for putting yourself out there....

I look forward to trying these Sloppy Joes!

  4. Yum! That all looks good. Unfortunatley some of my favorite cook out foods are hot dogs and brats. However I've come to love grilled veggies, pasta salads and fresh fruit. Can't wait to get the grill going!

    1. Honeysuckle White has some good turkey brats but they're 600mg sodium. Trader Joe's has EXCELLENT chicken dogs for 60 cals and low sodium.

  5. Rainbow Kebabs with Mango Chipotle Shrimp! That's got my mouthwatering right now!

  6. Love that Lemon Shake Up recipe! But my favorite cookout food will always be corn. Delicious, sweet corn. :)

  7. We're one of the weirdoes that actually cook out all year long. We'll have 3 feet of snow and it'll be 20 below, and we still grill out on the deck. Once the driveway gets shoveled, we do the deck....yep, weirdoes. =o)

  8. Oh yeah, love the Lemon Shake Up, too...have used that one many-a-time!

    1. I always say I'm going to cook out in the winter but we never do. Will have to rectify that this year! So glad you like the lemon shake up. It's one of our faves too!

  9. I love all grilled foods! Grilled veggies make an awesome cold salad and great leftovers.
