My Beauty Picks under $20

I'm not a beauty blogger and obviously that's not why you come here but I am currently lovin' some stuff that I wanted to share with you guys!  I hope you don't mind.  :-)

1. Organix - Intense Moisturizing Treatment Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil  (affiliate link) I had 80's hair.  The higher the hair, the closer to heaven they used to say and I was downright celestial.  Even 20 years later, I was paying for my Aqua Net sins.  In hearing more and more about Argan Oil and its healing properties, I thought I'd give it a go.  OH. MY. LORD!  The first time I put it on (after a crisping hair coloring), it felt like my hair turned into buttah.  The smell?  The only way I can describe it is if it were a person, I'd make love to it.  If they made it into a perfume, I'd buy stock.

2. Maybelline Dream Fresh BB Cream  (affiliate link) I had to try out the newest craze and I'm cheap so I had to try the least expensive BB cream.  I've got inherited dark circles, a scar on my cheek and some uneven skin tone.  So the promise of an SPF 30, moisturizer, primer, foundation and such was appealing especially if I didn't have to buy all of that stuff separately.  All in all, I really like it.  It gives a perfect canvas and pressed powder sets it perfectly without looking cakey.  I will say that you MUST remove it at the end of the day.  No sleeping in it or you're gonna wake up with some wicked clogged pores.  I won't tell you how I know that.

3. Bonne Bell Lip Lites Lip Gloss  (affiliate link) I love almost every color in this line and they smell /taste good too!  I love how inexpensive they are but long lasting.  No need to spend a ton of money on high end brands.  I keep some in my make up kit, the glove compartment and my purse.

4. Clean & Clear Clear Advantage Acne Spot Treatment  (affiliate link) This was recommended to me by a Facebook follower when I asked about something to kill small planets orbiting my face.  While it's slow to work on my well established planetary irritant, it instantly kills any others trying to pop up.  I see a little red bump starting to form and they say "oh, I'm sorry.  Wrong face!  I was just kidding!"

5. Pantene Pro-V Naturefusion Moisture Balance Shampoo  (affiliate link) I've always loved Pantene.  It was my "grown up" shampoo while helping to repair damage from previously mentioned 80's hair.  When the Nature Fusion line came out, I gave it a go and fell in love.  I didn't think I could love it any more but it made my hair softer and more shiny.  Score!

6. Dove Clinical Protection, Original Clean  (affiliate link) I don't wear this everyday but I pack it for vacations.  When we go to Hawaii, we're usually gone from dawn to dusk or later.  This stuff lasts ALL day long with no sweat and no stank.  I don't want to offend locals with an inferior deodorant.

7. Trader Joe's Coconut Body Butter  (affiliate link) This has more of a vanilla scent than coconut to me but I still love it.  It's perfect for spreading on your dangles (baggy skin) to moisturize as you shrink or on your neck to keep that "hard road" look from giving away your age.  I don't have that yet and I'd like to think shea butters are the reason why.

8. Suave Advanced Therapy Body Lotion  (affiliate link) Another really awesome lotion that smells great, lasts a long time and is a God send in winter weather for not a lot of money.

What beauty basics do you swear by?

  1. I'm good with my Axe hair pomade and some cheap cologne but I suppose I should start getting better about buttering myself up with some of that coconut butter stuff since I'm not getting any younger.

    1. Except with you break into your Beckham and Boss...rawr. Hey, you've had that buttah in your drawer and it's still unused. :P

  2. I'm a big Suave girl when it comes to hair care. I'm too cheap to buy Pantene or the others, but Suave makes a good line of "salon-like" products. I just wish I could find something to help with the flyaway hair problem. Between my fine hair and the super dry climate I live in nothing short of motor oil is going to keep my hair from getting all staticky and flyaway-y.

Store brand version of oil of olay spf moisturizer on my face - love that it's moist but light and doesn't make my face all greasy.

Jergens original body lotion (the one an only scented item in my arsenal), although this week I switched to Eucerin cream on a doctors recommendation. Not sure I'm loving
    it, but we'll see.

Almay smart shade liquid make-up. I love this stuff. I never could match my make-up to my skin tone exactly and this stuff does it for you, never that weird what color is that supposed to be look. Plus spf 15 - so bonus.

    1. I try to buy Pantene on sale or with a coupon (Target can be generous with both). I always wondered about that smart shade stuff. If I go back to traditional foundation, I'll give it a try!

  4. I use argan oil on my face. Yes, really! Everyone is always surprised when I say that because they think it's just for hair, but it's actually done wonders for my breakouts. And my skin is way way WAY less oily now too.

    1. I always see the oil next to it and I never get it. If it helps with your breakouts, I'm so getting it next time. I hear it's good for loose skin too.

  5. Love this post! I use the exact same Organix - Intense Moisturizing Treatment Renewing Moroccan Argan Oil. I tried it out because CVS was having a BYGO free sale. Yippee! I love it. Did you know they make a Body Oil in the exact same stuff? Yep! Saw it at ULTA. I'm going to try some when it goes on sale - I'll let you know if I like it. I'm going to TJs today - just added the coconut body buter to the list. Thanks for a great post and helpful tips. I always see things and think...I wonder if that's any good. Now I know!

  6. I ordered the Organix. I never did much with my hair in the 80's, I grew up in the60's--when every thing was natural. I didn't use hairspray, or gel or any of those "products." I was in my 30's during the 80's, morbidly obese already and didn't care much about my hair--knowing anything I did with my hair wouldn't change how bad I looked. For years my hair grew long, straggly, and after experimenting with coloring it myself and getting tired of how often I had to touch up the roots, I gave up, and let it go gray. But it was kind of curly and I pulled the front back in a barrett and let it flow down my back. I told myself it looked okay. When I got below 200 pounds in Nov. 2010, I had my niece cut and color my hair and have been keeping it professionally colored ever since. She even puts in highlights, which I love. Unfortunately, I rarely need to get it cut anymore to keep it at shoulder-length. It just breaks off and is so very thin. I never appreciated my thick hair enough, cause when I got close to 60, the hair got really thin and I never realized that is common in older women. My niece is so careful with the coloring now, fearing that is what caused my hair to thin. But I think it's just my age.

So I'm going to give the Organix a try and hopefully it will make my hair less frizzy at the very least!!! Thanks for the recommendation, I'll let you know how it turns out.

    1. I think you'll really love it! I will shampoo then slather on the mask and do the rest of my bidness while in the shower. Make sure to leave it on for about 4-5 minutes. I use it twice a week and use the Pantene Moisture Balance Conditioner in between.

Pantene Age Defy has advance thickening, tames frizz, etc. It's new, you might want to check it out to see if you like it! (I'm going to after this batch of Pantene runs out just to see if I like it. When you lots of weight, hair goes with it along with middle age. BOO!

  7. I just bought #1 for my daughter and now I'm going to have to steal, er "borrow", some from her and give it a try myself. She may or may not get it back. LOL

One product I swear by is ELF eyelid primer...and it only costs a BUCK! I get it at Target and it's the bomb...holds my eyeshadow perfectly all. day. long. And it's only a BUCK!!! (I obviously can't get over the fact that it only costs ONE DOLLAR) ;-) hehehe

  8. There's a couple on your list I'm going to try that piqued my interest, especially the hair products given the issues with my hair. One product I use that I swear by is Eucerin Intensive Hand Repair Creme Plus. This is the ONLY hand creme that works for my super dry and cracked hands (typically my right hand is worse because I wash dishes with that hand and it's submerged in hot water). This is not greasy at all and absorbs quickly. I recommend it to everyone who asks. I use other lotions for scent, but this is my base one that softens my hands for hours. It's hands down (ha...pun) the best hand creme I've used.
