Survival Mode Put Us Back to Zero

A lot of you came here many moons ago when I left Sparkpeople.  I loved the community of that place and the support I got there.  It was at the height of us being on our game.  That motivation you have in the beginning when you're consistently rewarded with weight loss, smaller clothes, compliments to keep your motivation high and you somehow begin to step out of being invisible to the public to people smiling at you, opening doors or striking up conversation.  You start to feel human.  You don't have to worry about going to restaurants or 'fitting' somewhere.  You can go to a wedding and see those God awful thin folding chairs and while you still don't like them, you're not concerned.  Many of your worries that fit people never had to think of, have faded away.  We started for the long haul in our 30's and that's when we had the most success, losing 226 and 190 lbs respectively.  When we went on vacation, as long as we came back and got rig...

Food Journal Friday 7/22-26

I'm trying to decide if this week has gone fast or slow.  I guess it doesn't really matter, it's Friday!

A friend of ours is coming over tonight to fix an issue with my car.  We're so lucky to have a friend who is so handy with both cars and home projects...two areas we're not.  We'll give him a little green for his time.

I've got a friend coming into town tomorrow.  I'm excited but I know it's going to go too fast.  Our time together always does.  But that's not why you came over...let's eat!

Sunday was bbq salmon burger on a whole wheat bun, leftover chipotle mashed potatoes with caramelized onions and a side salad with 1 tbsp of Catalina French.  Calories:  534

Monday was yummy chicken tacos with arugula (I <3 Arugula.  Just thought you should know) with a side of bean therapy green beans.  Yum.  Calories:  614

Tuesday was crab stuffed flounder with a side of zucchini, red peppers, onions and brussels sprouts.  With all of that vegetable goodness, I'm surprised we weren't skywriting.  Calories:  436

Wednesday was BBQ coho salmon, TJ's chipotle cheddar bites and zucchini and red peppers.  Calories:  440

Thursday was BBQ chicken naan pizza with grilled zucchini and red peppers on the bottom, 7 oz russet potato wedges and 1 tbsp ketchup.  Calories:  711

I was apparently craving BBQ this week!

What was your favorite dinner this week?

  1. Favorite dinner this week was hamburgers/ no bun, with sauteed zucchini and yellow beans in garlic butter.

  2. My husband and I made our own marinade from the lemon verbena we picked up at our CSA and grilled up some lemon chicken. I'm trying to lose the "last 10" so it's been very, very low carb for the past week.

  3. This week has been truly uninspired. I can't think of a single meal I want to share. Tonight we're having a chicken/veggie stir fry or sweet & sour chicken. That will probably be the best meal of the week.

  4. Tues and Wed are my favorites this week! Do you make your own crab stuffing for the flounder? Love the look of the vegetables all week!! Also, how did you like the Coho salmon? Was it fresh or frozen? Seems I can only get farm-raised Atlantic or fresh Sockeye, which I'd love to buy but it's been $14.99 a lb. I saw that Coho salmon is on sale this week. Tons o' bones? Flavor?

have a great time with your weekend company!!

    1. Oh that's cute. No, I get the flounder frozen at Trader Joe's but it tastes just as good as when I had it back in the day at Red Lobster (when it used to be good). The coho salmon was frozen as well at TJ's and I only get it because it doesn't have the skin on it. (I HATE taking the skin off of fish!) But I also think the coho tastes more fishy but not as boney as other salmon. I looked at getting fresh to have the butcher take care of that for me but it was almost twice as much and I just can't justify that.

  5. Ohhh you have some lovely eats! I love your plates too! They make it look even better. :) I wonder if arranging my food more neatly will make it taste better. Hmm :D
