Warm Weather Hygge
By definition, hygge (hooga) according to the Denmark website is about "taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures." There's a fun little book I read on vacation back in 2018 called The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living and I loved it so much, I bought one as soon as I got back. There was actually nothing more relaxing than reading that little book curled up on the couch in the sunroom with a cup of tea and is one of my favorite memories of that trip. Many tend to associate this practice in the cooler months of Fall and Winter because it tends to focus on the act of being cozy. Snuggling under a blanket, enjoying a warm, healing cup of tea by the fireplace (or fireplace on TV ), lighting a favorite candle while doing a calming hobby like cross stitch or scrapbooking. Being a hyggephant, I can tell you that I never associated warm wea...
I'm so sorry you had such a painful night, wishing your mom was there. That breaks my heart and I totally, completely understand it. The loss was smothering you right then and I know those gut-wrenching sobs. I'm so very, very sorry. I can imagine how much worse your head had to feel because it's like an anvil to the side of your head from the pressure. I hope you were able to go into a deep slumber somehow, but I know those are pipe dreams more often than not. I haven't slept in several weeks because I was taking care of our sweet pup during the night, and last night it was so still and quiet in the house I was wide awake. I didn't know what to do with myself with not being on high alert. I hate it.
ReplyDeleteNo weekend plans other than taking care of some hard stuff, working a bit tomorrow, and probably doing mindless, detached grief cleaning in that weird robotic way. I hope you guys can get through the stairs project relatively unscathed and you don't have the same aggravations as this whole week has been. DIY fairy indeed...wouldn't that be great! Come take all my junk, paint the walls, put in new flooring and countertops, and we're good to go. That's not asking too much (oh, and the big light fixtures I've had sitting in the kitchen for two years...that's be swell, too). =o)
Yeah it's been a week and I'm really sorry to hear about our friend going through that pain of losing a pet family member. Prayers go out to them for sure! Try to have a good weekend everyone.
ReplyDeleteHome renovation is a nightmare. Been through it recently. Finally completed the work on the upstairs. Some interesting reading. As one who had no children I am often asked why not? Is something wrong with you? Unreal in this day and age! Maybe if those under 49 want our homes some kindness would help. After all it isn't like we have anyone to leave it to.š . Hope your weekend improves.
