Family Time Weekend Recap

Happy Monday all!  I hope y'all aren't melting in the heat because it is MISERABLE!  Today we are going to apparently break records from the heat and be at 100 with heat index way higher.  Yay.  This will be me for the next week: source We went to my second cousin's graduation party.  I purposely wanted to arrive about 45 minutes later than the start time.  You don't want to get wrangled into setting up, babysitting, etc and that happened to people arriving earlier from what I heard so smart call on my part.  Also everyone is always chit chatting and we knew if there would be food it would be about the time they'd be eating...right again.  We already ate so we were good to go and then shocked the sh*t out my family when we walked in.  Final goal:  ✔ The grad immediately popped up and came over to hug us and be a good hostess which was so cute.  She's always been a very sweet kid but also a little badass.  She was the only wrest...

Happy November!

Dang man, the weekend just sucked down the tubes like that!  (Much like the month of October!)

Friday night, we went to the grocery store bulk section to grab our Halloween candy for ourselves for Saturday.  It's always so much better that way because you can grab a hodge podge of stuff like your trick or treat bag used to look like as a kid.  A bullseye (caramel cream), a dum dum, fun size Crunch bar, a few mini Reese cups, etc.  A friend of mine jokingly posted a hypnotizing pic on his social media saying to bring him all of our candy.  So while we were loading up for ourselves, we grabbed some for him too and got cute little bags to put it in with a Halloween tag I made a few years ago.  We had lunch across the street from his place and I told him we'd be there if he wanted to join us but if not, we'd come over after.  Just before the pizza arrived, he showed up.  It was nice just sitting and visiting with him.  He's one of my friends that isn't afraid to "go deep" and have a serious conversation and then turn right around and talk about the most inappropriate things to utter in public.  Oh well, that's who we are.  We went back to his place and I gave him the candy which he was so happy about and dumped it in a bowl after sniffing it.  (Smells are his thing.  LOL)  We went back to his place and he has a cat, which the Mr is allergic to.  As usual, things ended up like this...

She claimed him and when she wasn't whapping me in the back of the head with her tail, she was walking on, laying on and meowing at the Mr.  Twas comical until his body began to catch fire and nose stopped up.  His neck was on fire well into the night.  We walked around the city after that a bit and by the time we left, it was 4:30pm and we'd spent 5 hours there!  We hit dinner and then came home and watched A Nightmare on Elm Street 3 - Dream Warriors(affiliate link)  Not quite the movie marathon we had planned but it was good to get in a movie and spend time with a friend.

Sunday was grocery day.  We got to bed way later than we should have and therefore by the time we got to Trader Joe's, every irritating person within 10 miles of the store was there.  The Mr and I counted about 12 people we wanted to firmly smack about the head and neck.  One woman was, of course, standing right where I needed to look and was singing to her husband across the aisle.  I went on one side of her, said excuse me, (she didn't move) and then the other while she continued to sprawl herself across the frozen fish.  Finally I mumbled "will you be standing here all day blocking the aisle?"  Then she finally moved.  I don't expect someone to move if I don't say excuse me and since I said it and she didn't move, all bets are off sistah.

We finally got home and put everything away.  The Mr cut my veggies for the week whilst I made lunch...a recreation of a grilled sandwich we had in Charleston with ham, cheese and apple slices.  It was quite good.  We had grand plans of walking the historic district but got sidetracked and by the time we were getting ready to leave, we remembered sunset is now ridiculously early.  *kicks pebble*

So we decided to do a strength and watched movies.

What did you guys get into this weekend?

  1. I think cats can sense when someone is allergic. And I don't even shy away from them, I still pet them and stuff when I see one despite what it does to me to be around them. The weekend did fly by but it was still a great weekend. Hard to believe it's November already but just think of all the holiday stuff we can get into now!

  4. We hosted a halloween party friday and then all the fun kid halloween stuff on saturday. On sunday, I recuperated. I could probably use another week off to get over it. LOL. I hate people like that in grocery store. My favorite store has meat sales every Tuesday. every asshole from here to Orlando seems to show up on Tuesday afternoons.

  5. It was a low key weekend for me, which I needed. We picked up mom's ashes on Friday and that was very hard for me (a lot harder than I anticipated actually). That was a busy day dealing with legal/financial stuff, so I told myself the weekend was going to be minimal. Still haven't made it to the grocery store, but did manage to do a load of laundry. Did go see my uncle and brought him lunch and showed him a photo album of when he and mom were young with their dog. Didn't get any trick-or-treaters and the weather was cold, rainy and windy. Weekend kind of went by in a haze, but so far November has been warm and sunny, which is nice to see.
