Hump Day Poll: I'd Love For You To Participate
I was thinking about how different over the years I've realized all of our holiday food is. As many of us enter (or are in) the second part of our lives, we find our holidays are changing. Whether that's through kids and/or grandkids moving away, loved ones passing away especially those considered the long time 'glue' of the family or maybe you moved yourself or found it necessary to not participate in gatherings anymore. Some people like myself like to make traditional foods to keep tied to family and some like to start all new traditions because they feel tied down by those old standbys. But if I may, I'd like to encourage those of you who still have big families to please get something like this to bring to family gatherings for people to write down their famous recipes. It hits different to see the person's handwriting when they're no longer here and they likely can write it down from memory (or at least the ingredients and you can get back to them for exact amounts.)
I would love to so a SATW Potluck for Thanksgiving where you guys share one or two of your favorite recipes for Thanksgiving that I will put together into a separate post. I've shared our recipes before but I'd like to share yours and maybe pick a few to make if not on Thanksgiving then close to it to get our of a food rut.
Main dishes, side dishes, appetizers, dessert. All of it.
If you guys think it's lame, that's fine but I'd just really like to do a virtual Friendsgiving and I'm trying to gauge interest in that.
I'd like to post it at the beginning of November so I'll probably ask for your recipes in a couple of weeks to give you time to gather any you'd like to share. I know, this isn't likely on your radar but unfortunately I need to plan ahead and it might give you guys some fun new inspiration if not for the actual holiday for a cozy Fall night or game day!
