Getting Around to It Weekend Recap
Yawn...hello there!

Monday has knocked at our doors far too early, hasn't it? To direct quote the Mr yesterday after all was said and done "weekend's suck!" Now let's see why!
It was a weird weekend. I chatted with a close friend going through a rough time. You know when you have to moderate between saying what you really feel and saying just enough to kind of get your point across? Well, I said what I felt because when someone gives you the opportunity to acknowledge something that's always bothered you without you bringing it up, you take it. It wasn't a happy conversation but a helpful one to her. She has a lot of decisions to make and I'm more than happy to be there for her however she needs me. It just sucks because it's happening over her birthday so I wanted it to finally be a happy birthday and I hope she's able to make it one despite the other stuff swirling. It led the Mr and I into a good long conversation too. Once we had lunch and weren't really doing too much, he hopped up and decided to change my spark plugs for the first time. It's been on the list for over a year but it was a runner up to something else that seemed to be making the car chug before. We had the stuff so might as well be done and he was happy it was much easier than anticipated after watching a few You Tube videos.
When we were coming back after the New Year holiday, I had finally found these muted green velvet curtains I wanted at Pottery Barn, ordered them and they've sat in the basement in their package since January. Along with them was a pair of sleeping fox curtain tie backs just waiting for the day for them to shine. I ordered a warm gold curtain rod because the one we took down last year was a double rod and we've got a blind there instead of sheers now. We got it yesterday and I have to say I love it. Trying to get a warm brushed gold can be very tricky when you can't see it in person. I looked at others but people said the gold scratched off. This one, a lady said this is the third time she bought it for her home and they hold up well and she hasn't had issues and it was the perfect warm gold. Thankfully, she was right. The problem is, we always seem to have an issue anyway installing the brackets there. Well, now we have TWO layers of drywall to get through. It was sweat and curse word inducing but it finally got installed. We got the tie backs drilled in and they are so cute.
The curtains didn't shake out wrinkle wise overnight so time to take the steamer to them or it will drive me a special kind of insane. The biggest thing was just making sure we hung them at the right height because in the past they've either been so low they dragged the ground or so high I had to sew on fringe to compensate for the 3" of oopsies, which looked pretty but still. The Mr said those two projects were ones he'd been dreading, just like the garage last weekend and he was glad they were done. It was nice having those checked off the list and honestly I forgot how much taller curtains make the room look and they're the perfect way to add the cozy for the Fall. (Ignoring it's back in the 80's this week.)
Sunday it was coffee and tube to start off the morning. I was chatting with my second cousin which is rare so it was a nice little side bonus since I don't remember the last time I saw him. Then the Mr wanted to get the air filter installed in his car that I reminded him of after coming across it in the garage last weekend. While he did that, I turned on the Vince Guaraldi playlist and made some healthy hummingbird muffins and got veggies cut for turkey chili. While making the muffins, I realized I forgot to add bananas to the pickup list for this week. Sigh. I guess I'll be having my cottage cheese instead. The Mr swept then wet vac'd the stairs since it'd been a month since it was done last. We promised ourselves we'd do it weekly because of it being light in color so you see how that lasted. I got to working on this and then packed up the muffins to split between the fridge and freezer. Then it was time for our workout and this Sunday we weren't going to skip regardless of what else we were doing. (And not like anything we did counted as a workout like the past two weekends.)
After that, the chili was ready to roll and there's nothing like that first bowl of the season!
I packed up the second half of the chili for dinner another night.
So while it wasn't as grand of a scale as cleaning the entire garage, there were things that have been sitting on the to do list that got checked off which is always a nice feeling!

I am glad we got that stuff done and it looks great! Have a good week everyone!
ReplyDeleteLove the foxes! Nothing exciting here just laundry and meal prep. Da boss is ooo this week so that will be nice for me. Have a great week!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a great weekend of getting those smaller things done that make you feel like a little load has been lifted. Weekend was good here. Did a big donation drop off downtown, got the laundry done, and Saturday we had a quick trip to Costco pharmacy, then another pharmacy, and the deli, and were all done and home by 11:24 a.m.🙌 Sunday was church and a nice little nap in the afternoon.
