Getting Around to It Weekend Recap
Yawn...hello there! source Monday has knocked at our doors far too early, hasn't it? To direct quote the Mr yesterday after all was said and done "weekend's suck!" Now let's see why! It was a weird weekend. I chatted with a close friend going through a rough time. You know when you have to moderate between saying what you really feel and saying just enough to kind of get your point across? Well, I said what I felt because when someone gives you the opportunity to acknowledge something that's always bothered you without you bringing it up, you take it. It wasn't a happy conversation but a helpful one to her. She has a lot of decisions to make and I'm more than happy to be there for her however she needs me. It just sucks because it's happening over her birthday so I wanted it to finally be a happy birthday and I hope she's able to make it one despite the other stuff swirling. It led the Mr and I into a good long conversati...
I ger motivated when I see results. I set my timervfirv10 minutes and pick a small area to work on. Things im undecided on I put in a bin and then set a timer for 10 minutes and take a break and decide disposition.
ReplyDeleteI also never leave an area empty handed. Been doing it so long im on autopilot!
I work in a room for 20 minutes, doing as much as I can in that timeframe, then I stop. I don't allow myself to continue because I know my brain will start to get overstimulated and my mood will change, so I leave the room. I may go back for another 20 minutes that same day, but I have to separate myself from it. I find that my decision making is much more clear and focused in those 20 minutes. I also keep a roll of garbage bags in each room so I can pitch stuff without creating more piles.
ReplyDeleteI do a list, room by room, of what I would like to get done in each room. I do it in point form, and I don't give myself a deadline. I might do something in a bedroom one day, then tackle a kitchen cupboard or counter section the next. This works for me because of the complete satisfaction I get from crossing an item off my list. It can feel overwhelming when I make the list but as soon as I cross a couple off it doesn't seem so daunting to me. I live my entire life with lists haha.
