Raise the Roof Weekend Recap
Hello and welcome to the first Monday of August, the year of our Lord, Two Thousand and Twenty Five. When did we stop saying such medieval sayings? I rather like sounding fancy pants. Also, what exactly are fancy pants?
*Consults the ever reliable innerwebs*
Merriam Webster literally says "overly elegant or refined : la-di-da" It says la-di-da! 😆 Did you also know it's hyphenated? Fancy-pants. The first known use was in 1939. Aaaand, still no one can tell me what said pants were so fancy back in the day that they were associated as being so elegant. Oh when I go down a rabbit hole I'm bringing you with me, my friend!
Anyhoo, so you know the show de la chit we were dealing with last week. After the window dude spotted the caulking issue and patched it up, we were relieved. The only thing the Mr wasn't looking forward to was having to admit to Atilla the Hun that it might've been our issue all along. I know how this woman operates and based on her pissy responses, us having to deal with this crap while trying to mourn my mother but not being able to, I wrote up a response with a zinger at the end that would prove she's either pure evil or shut her up. Ya see kids, we were not only dealing with that issue, we have also had a roofer come out to look at a hole in the roof a week prior. The dude didn't even have to go up on the roof. He pointed to the area and said "I can see it from here". He said he'd get us fixed up and we didn't know if he meant that day or what. We didn't hear from him for over four days and called the company directly to see if they had us on the schedule. They were waiting on approval...from Atilla. Well, you saw how well they were solving our other issue and that witch is power hungry and would drag it out as long as possible.
I wrote a response for the Mr to copy and paste the next day because up to that point responses from our end were quick. I said we had the window people out, they tweaked some things and now we wait. I also want to make it clear when we called about the subfloor, while the window was looked at, it was their guy who originally said there were several gaps in the siding and he's here all the time fixing similar issues with it. The next day when the day person (little man) came out, he too pointed out three cracks in our siding and kept talking about ripping it out. It was not until two contractors blamed our siding that we had no choice but to believe them because we're not general contractors and we hoped the window adjustments would take care of the issue. We were unfortunately dealing with a death in the family (not a lie) and wouldn't be available (my way of saying I'm done with the conversation, don't expect a reply) and the Mr added we still have the issue with our roof that's outstanding and getting that taken care of would be nice to not have to deal with at this time.
Guess who was "en route" within the hour? 🤔 They were on the roof for 35 minutes and had a HUGE sheet of plywood, lots of shingles and were banging around in quite a few places up there so it definitely wasn't one spot. So that is what had to be said to get instant approval for a hole, or apparently, holes in our roof. Not like we'd had four storms raining into our attic while she retaliated with her pettiness. 😡
I can't tell you how relieved we are to not have to (hopefully) deal with her again anytime soon. Five weeks total we've been doing this crap and after that, we needed to get the heck out of the house. A long rando drive was in order with no real rhyme or reason, just as long as it wasn't home. Basically just grabbed lunch out and about and drove around. We tried looking at maps of stuff around us in the new to us area but nothing sounded great so we gave up and started making our way home via country roads
Why is it so hard to find something to do that doesn't involve having HOARDES of people around? We drove by a park and it was so crowded with campers it might as well have had a sign that said 'welcome to hell! How many in your party?' If I want to camp, I'm going to unplug, not listen to people whoop it up, be annoying or have people living the camper lifestyle approach us to make friends when I know nothing about them. The last time we went camping, if I remember correctly, was 1998. Some people walked over a burning log after they saw us set off a mushroom cloud for the Mr's birthday that year because we couldn't get a fire lit to save our lives for some reason. It was in the dark so it was like a burning ghost approaching us and was like "here, use this as your base. Please don't set off more butane bombs."

That was about it on that front for camping but it was fun to have my friend with us and go out with a bang.

I will say though, we did have a sweet ass tent very similar to this one. When we decided for a few years camping would be our thing, I was like "I want a living room, 'kitchen' and bedroom" and when our friend came with us there was plenty of room. She laughed at first but she was grateful to have her own room with an air mattress and privacy. Don't be mockin' me woman!

Sunday was pretty low key. I got a garden task or two done after lunch and we were waiting for the sun to set a bit to shade the front yard. We needed to put down some top soil and mulch over the spot where the tree was removed and hopefully we're not going to be dealing with more schmucks trampling that area so it felt safe to finally do. As I thought about it though, I knew if we did that, we would end up skipping our strength workout because who wants to do that when you're hot and sweaty from being outdoors? So we went down and did our Turbo Fire Tone first with the bands and got to it quickly after before the soreness could set in. By the time we were done, it was draining and dinnertime. I threw together some BBQ chicken pizzas on sourdough slices and brussels sprouts.
Before we knew it, the weekend had swirled down the tubes. Pffft.
How was your weekend?

Glad we got a road trip in at least. Another weekend that went fast though.
