We have officially been doing strength training again for two full months. I've got to admit, I'm proud of us. It's hard going from none, being upset with how far your strength capacity has plummeted and discouraged to making sure you stick with it every week. June was 2x week until the final week trying to build a base and then the final week and through July we went to 3x week. This past week, I tried to up it for most exercises to 15 lbs. I don't feel as strong as I did when we were doing it regularly but I'm getting there. I know it's more important now than ever so we can maintain not just base strength but hopefully improve our balance and flexibility so we can live an easier life with less pain.
We did the whole LIIFT 4 program with Joel Freeman and now I went through mostly Fitness Blender favorites and put together our strength workouts for the next month. I'm sharing them here so I can refer to them quickly but you can take a peek if you're bored.

Fitness Blender always kicks our butts pretty hard and so do the Turbo Fire band workouts which will be Sunday's to ease us into the week with a full body workout. (Not that they're easier, that's for sure!) It'll be an interesting month but I'm hoping to be stronger for it by my birthday around the beginning of next month. I'll have to throw in some pretty heavy duty PT for my glutes because the bottom of my IT band on my right leg is zinging me HARD so I can't kneel. After researching, basically the same leg/hip physical therapy I had to do for my legs before is the same thing to strengthen the muscles to support the IT band. We'll see. I sure as heck don't want to be dealing with this a month from now so fingers crossed!

DeleteThank you my sweet!! It was a crazy day, but month end is over, so I'm happy about that. My strength training is focused with bands right now. My PT has me working shoulders and neck exercises, with stretching afterwards. One of my favorite stretches to do when I'm done, or after work, is a scalene stretch...it feels so good!!

DeleteBands are NO JOKE! The Turbo Fire's listed use those and we are always beat after those. That is a good stretch for sure!
