What I'm Reading This Week #23

Hello there!  We made it to Friday.  Halleluyer!  Did anyone else get that collection of butt hot days earlier in the week?  No thanks.  Oh yeah, you know what's fun?  When you're watering your plants and you're wondering why mushrooms are starting to grow in planters and you check the bottom and realize the reason you got a great deal is because there are no drainage holes.  😤  So I had to tip the planters and drill one big one not only in the 4 smaller ones, which was hard enough but also the two big 16" ones holding the clematises.  Nothing like drowning your plants for 3 weeks.  I mean for real, who sells those?  I've never in my life bought planters that didn't have drainage holes.  So there's a tip for you to make sure you check your planter bottoms before planting anything.  Oh then yesterday, I went out to water after a super hot day and brought the tape out in case I saw nasties on the leaves.  Well, I'll sp...

What I'm Reading This Week #12

Hello Friday, you saucy wench.  It's been a rainy, dreary week here and I love it.  I am definitely a pluviophile which is why we owned land in a rainforest for 12 years.

We've been giving our delivery people a workout this week and the place is full of boxes and padded envelopes.  Some of them having to go back where they came from which is very frustrating especially when they send you a substitute for an item thinking you're not going to notice and send you something else that's dented.  So irritating.

It was more than halfway through the week before realizing I hadn't taken dinner pics so go through previous Friday posts if you need some ideas.

Let's go through...

Learning to Honor My Grief When the World Has Become Desensitized to Loss ("I worry that this universal loss has become so entrenched within our daily lives that it is now considered the norm to be traumatized.")

How Quarantine Has Affected Introverts  (I've gotta agree, though when this is over, still stay 6 feet away from me.)

Scientists Finally Understand the Link Between Depression and Bad Sleep  (I read old notes from high school and my common theme was how tired I always was.  Should've known then!)

5 Optometrist-Approved Ways to Keep Your Eyes Healthy If You Stare at a Screen All Day  (I was just telling the Mr the other day my vision has taken a serious hit the past 6 months.)

John Oates on lost cult-classic 'She’s Gone' video: 'Most hysterical thing we'd ever done'  (Wow, that video is a lot to absorb and his stories about it are pretty funny.  Be sure to tune in tomorrow to his free charity concert!  Dave Grohl is in and if Dave's in, I'm in!)

Tomorrow is the refrigerator delivery so tonight we'll get ice and in the morning fill up our coolers and transfer all of the contents.  Sure would've been nice for this to happen when it was cold so we could just put everything on the patio.  Pffft.  The Mr has been on towel duty all week to keep the fridge from overflowing again.  Definitely not something we could've let go so I'm glad we are starting over.  So that'll be our Saturday between unloading, waiting for them and reloading the new fridge.  I hope to get out and go for a drive maybe after they leave or Sunday.

Y'all out and about this weekend or hanging at home or a little of both?

  1. Good luck with the refrigerator coming! I hope you really like it and it has good organization options once it's filled up, all shiny and new!

I have to run to pick up a bag of ice today and that's all I have to do in public that I know of. lol I didn't get to anything on my list yesterday so today is empty boxes, breaking down boxes, doing laundry, returning a bra through the post office, and trying not to be grumpy the whole day. Ha! Weather is supposed to be quite good, given we had snow and ice Monday and 45mph sustained winds yesterday. Dogs will definitely get walks in this weekend. Then I work the weekend. Bah.
Have a good weekend and try to get that nice drive in! xoxo

    1. Me too! It's always weird to have to potentially rearrange stuff you're used to grabbing in one spot for 11 years! Hope you had fun breaking down your boxes and you and the pups don't blow away.

    1. Thanks for all of your hard work getting that together! Looks like we've got an earlyish time slot so we don't have to be stuck here all day!

  3. We did a driving road trip and private rental place over spring break, so I'm trying to get myself geared up to go back to school tomorrow. The big excitement for the weekend is to make a grocery run. Woohoo. I agree about staying 6 feet away from me even after all of this is over - I think that should be a social norm. If I don't know you, I don't want you any closer than that. I usually get several colds a year and haven't yet this year (knock on wood) I think b/c kids are actually staying home when they are sick and wearing a mask keeps me from touching my face so much.
