Family Time Weekend Recap

Happy Monday all!  I hope y'all aren't melting in the heat because it is MISERABLE!  Today we are going to apparently break records from the heat and be at 100 with heat index way higher.  Yay.  This will be me for the next week: source We went to my second cousin's graduation party.  I purposely wanted to arrive about 45 minutes later than the start time.  You don't want to get wrangled into setting up, babysitting, etc and that happened to people arriving earlier from what I heard so smart call on my part.  Also everyone is always chit chatting and we knew if there would be food it would be about the time they'd be eating...right again.  We already ate so we were good to go and then shocked the sh*t out my family when we walked in.  Final goal:  ✔ The grad immediately popped up and came over to hug us and be a good hostess which was so cute.  She's always been a very sweet kid but also a little badass.  She was the only wrest...

What I'm Reading This Week #11

Happiest of Fridays to you all!  Did your week treat you like a champ or a chump?

I'm leaning toward the latter with us.  Tuesday night after a late night quick grocery run, we came back to our fridge deli drawer overflowing with water onto the floor.  Not only does this mean the fridge was shot but potentially a few boards in the kitchen.  The fridge is 11 years old and way out of warranty so it's not worth sinking the repair cost into it.  We were already planning on replacing it this year but it just kicked up our timeline so the new fridge is ordered and will be here next Saturday.  We went to Home Depot to see if we wanted basically the same style or one of those glass door deals you can open without opening the actual door.  For $500 more, it was nowhere near worth it.  The things that we use on that door inside would be too cumbersome to fight with to open that magic door and we'd end up using the real door anyway.  No thanks.  So happy early silver anniversary, hon...you get a silver fridge!

Let's take a look at our eats this week.

Monday was lentil pasta with low sodium marinara and zucchini with a side salad.

Workout was Turbo Fire HIIT 20 and Popsugar's Abs and Arms.

Tuesday I found some Foodsaved Thanksgiving turkey and stuffing in the freezer and I microwaved a russet potato and mixed in some milk and 1/2  tbsp of butter for mashed potatoes.  The Mr was quite happy.

Workout was 2 1/2 laps around the hood.

Wednesday was Caulipower veggie pizza because after dropping 3K on a fridge, you have nothing left to give.

Workout was a walk in the park.

Thursday was BBQ pita pizza and veggies because why have one kind of pizza this week?

Workout was Turbo Fire.

Now let's jump from eatin' this week, to...

  1. Thanks for the Star Wars link. That had a lot of stuff I had heard before and even more stuff I hadn't, so it was great! I am glad we have this weekend to prepare for the fridge replacement even if it stinks to have to do it. Just imagine if they were coming this weekend though, we would already be scrambling. I forgot just how inconvenient it is to replace a fridge too. Any other appliance you can go without for a day or two and be fine, but a fridge is really tough to handle because you can lose a lot of money in food if you don't handle it well.

  2. I took care of most of my errands yesterday so aside from taking the dogs for a drive I don't have to go out. I'll be cutting down cardboard boxes to tie up for recycling on Monday and cleaning out a couple of cabinets in the pantry that are overflowing in a big ol' mess. Tomorrow we'll grocery shop and then I really don't know what we'll do -- play it by ear. Then it's off to work for me. The hubs took Monday off after I read him the statistics on the increase in car accidents and heart attacks and strokes the Monday after "Spring Forward" day. So because he took that day off he gets the whole weekend off, so I'm thrilled for him to get 3 days off to rest and recuperate. Have a fantastic weekend!
