Warm Weather Hygge

By definition, hygge (hooga) according to the Denmark website is about "taking time away from the daily rush to be together with people you care about - or even by yourself - to relax and enjoy life's quieter pleasures."   There's a fun little book I read on vacation back in 2018 called The Little Book of Hygge: Danish Secrets to Happy Living and I loved it so much, I bought one as soon as I got back.  There was actually nothing more relaxing than reading that little book curled up on the couch in the sunroom with a cup of tea and is one of my favorite memories of that trip. Many tend to associate this practice in the cooler months of Fall and Winter because it tends to focus on the act of being cozy.  Snuggling under a blanket, enjoying a warm, healing cup of tea by the fireplace (or fireplace on TV ), lighting a favorite candle while doing a calming hobby like cross stitch or scrapbooking.  Being a hyggephant, I can tell you that I never associated warm wea...

What I'm Reading This Week #40

Happy Friday all!  Everyone still sweatin'?

They claim we're transitioning into fall weather but I won't believe it until the snow falls because until there are a few solid freezes, I feel like Heatmeiser can come back any time.  I am so beyond ready for Fall.  Trader Joe's has a Honeycrisp apple candle I've been burning and that helps.  (It also makes me crave sour apple Jolly Ranchers too.)  I've been busy trying to get the last of the basement camera ready and I need to get on writing reveal posts soon.

They're coming the week of the 14th and I'm saying that so I'll be forced to be accountable.   šŸ˜„

But enough of that, let's account for...

We pumped up the yak and board to make sure there were no holes from last year and we're good to go.  We'll road trip to a park and hopefully not have a lot of people there.  It's grocery weekend so I'll get some stuff for a picnic.  I can't believe October is our first paddle of the year.  Any local places will be lowering the water levels so this will be the only real paddle we'll likely get.

What are y'all into this weekend?

  2. Our rivers are flooding here so they closed them all to the boaters and kayakers. =o( I'm cutting the lawn today and working on laundry (I get so excited on the rare occasions I get the majority of laundry done on a Friday!), and will get the dogs out for some fresh air. Tomorrow I have a meeting and we are going out for an early dinner for his birthday/our anniversary. Grocery shopping on Sunday and a ride out to the country. If the weather is good on Monday I may go out to the orchard for the first time. Squeeeee!

Have a super weekend out on the water!
