Non Scale Victories This Week

During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses.  I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses.  My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights.  Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through.  On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower.  I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. We Tried It: Oikos Triple Zero Peanut Butter Banana Yogurt

We're big fans of peanut butter and banana, just like The King.  If you've followed along, you know I'm not a yogurt fan, but I've found a very few select flavors I like.  Since I like peanut butter and banana and this was only a buck, we thought we'd give it a go.

Here's a peek at the nutritional info.

It's got that peanut butter look to it.  Check.  No real bananas obviously so the banana is all flavoring.

But how did it taste?

I'll have to defer to the Mr on that one because the second I opened it and gave it stir, I almost retched.  (How's that for an endorsement?)  I'm very sensitive to the smell of yogurt and the combo of peanut butter with it almost put me over the edge so I passed it over.  He smelled it and said it smelled fine to him and took a bite.

Then he walked to the trash and threw it out.  He said "tastes fake.  All I taste is fake sugar."  It's sweetened with stevia and unfortunately, we haven't had many products with it that doesn't taste fake.  He said there wasn't even much peanut butter taste to it all.  So a thumbs down for us but if you're used to the taste of stevia, it probably wouldn't bother you.  Oh well, only out a buck but you never know what yogurt flavors will be a hit or miss.

Would you try peanut butter yogurt?

  1. ugh, yeah that was such a fake taste that I just couldn't even finish my first bite. Still have a bad taste in my mouth from it. I still think a good peanut butter yogurt could be good but it would need at least a little real sugar in it for me.

  2. I'd probably try it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to do so. I like vanilla and I really like peach. I buy whichever brand is on sale that week so that pretty much determines what flavors I have on hand. I'll skip Oikos peanut butter though now, so thanks for that.

  3. I wouldn't try peanut butter in yogurt. I pretty much stick to cherry, peach, and triple berry. As much as I really like strawberries and bananas, I do not like that combo together for some reason.

  4. I would probably take a plain yogurt and add PB2 powder to it. I really like yogurt but prefer to take plain and use it as a base.

  5. In general, I don't like foods that pretend to be something they aren't. So if you tell me you are peanut butter and banana but contain neither, I'm not interested. I'd rather put a spoon of peanut butter and half a banana in a bowl of yogurt and mash it all together. I don't need the sugar or sweetener.

And can I just say I hate that a product claims to have no artificial sweeteners but contains stevia? It seems like a technicality because it may be natural but it tastes artificial.
