What I'm Reading This Week #26

Well you made it to Friday!  I don't know where y'all are but unless you were near Glacier National Park that got snow this week, you were probably boiling in your own pudding to quote Charles Dickens.  I do not dig 90 degrees by noon and it feels like everything is frying left and right including us.  Most of the week I had the 50% shade cloths on the veggies to attempt to save as much as I can.  I need to get the next batch of lettuce in the shade planter to see if I can successfully grow there over the summer since it never gets direct sun.  I told the Mr the other day I feel like nothing is in the right place back there.  I have a lot of containers and I don't know if I need to put some of them on a little ledge since the 5 gallon buckets take up so much room or not.  The zinnias being in a long planter on the fence were a mistake but they were only put there because I had so many extras and didn't want to chuck them.  I have a few struggling...

What I'm Reading This Week #24

Sup y'all!  Welcome to flop sweat season (and Friday!)  I hope you had a good week and stayed cool.

I had to wave the flag and pull all of the 'impatiens' I grew from seed as that is not the plant I apparently bought.  I'm still going round with the people I got them from because dammit, I want a refund.  So I had to go to the nursery and get regular impatiens to replace the ones I pulled.  It's already nicer to see actual color instead of looking out everyday and wonder WTF they're going to turn into other than some rando plant with a thick, juicy stem.  Not that the ones I got look a ton better as they too are leggy.  I don't know what the deal is with that.  I also grabbed some chives half off to plant with the zinnias to keep the aphids at bay.  Who knows if it'll actually work or not, we'll see.

Now let's see:

I made it through Mom's birthday though as I told my friend, it's not really about the day, it's about the next 7 weeks and me being able to recount what new trauma every day brought her/us from this point forward.  I anticipate having my jaw locked until the beginning of August.  It might be time to dig out the book from my dear friend that she gave me when Mom passed.

The Mr passed that stupid test he's been studying for since last year.  We both agree that it has been a horrid weight and the freedom of him not having to study every day for two hours after work for over six months will be a relief.  To celebrate, we're going to road trip to wherever he'd like as long as we feel up to it when we wake up.  We need to get the heck outta here.

Any weekend shenanigans on tap for you?

  1. Woohoo! So glad that test is over with finally. Studying through holidays, renovations and just plain life is no way to live and it's so freeing to have that burden off my mind. Have a great weekend everyone!

  2. Congratulations to the Mr.!!! So happy he passed the test and that stress is over. I'm sorry the trauma with mom is amping up. The body seems to remember the timing of those horrible days and weeks, and physiologically it feels like you're going through it again. Sending you big, big hugs! The hubs and I are going through the same with losses, and it plain stinks. This weekend we have some work to do in the spare room. Lots of running around to do starting with grocery shopping in about an hour. I hope you have a wonderful road trip and celebration!!šŸ’•šŸ’•
