Our Strength Workouts for the Coming Month

source First off, a very happy birthday to my bestie!  Once again, I am in awe of what a beautiful, giving, patient friend you are.  I don't know how I got so lucky to have you in my life but I'll take it!  Wishing you an evening sans bra in front of the tube, enjoying your gifts and knowing you're loved! 🎂🎁 *** Note: I am sharing what our routine will be, this isn't suggesting you do it. Consult your doctor before starting any new exercise program. We have officially been doing strength training again for two full months.  I've got to admit, I'm proud of us.  It's hard going from none, being upset with how far your strength capacity has plummeted and discouraged to making sure you stick with it every week.  June was 2x week until the final week trying to build a base and then the final week and through July we went to 3x week.  This past week, I tried to up it for most exercises to 15 lbs.  I don't feel as strong as I did when we were doing i...

Hump Day Poll: Um, That's Weird

The Mr learned something new about me whilst in Vermont which is hard to do after 29 years together.  I HATE sunny days in the winter especially when there's snow.  Like, hate it.  Just like noises overwhelm my senses, so do visual things like bright sunlight bouncing off reflective snow.  If there's snow, I want a cloudy day that makes me want to snuggle under a blanket not a sunny day that makes me want to be outside but it's 19 degrees and my nostrils freeze together upon stepping foot outside.  I actually get irritated when I see sun during the winter snow maybe it's because a part of me knows the sun is going to melt my treasured snow no matter how cold it is.

What seemingly weird to others quirk do you have?

  1. If I have a rhythm in my head, I have to tap it out using either my fingers or my toes. When I was a kid I was taking guitar lessons and the teacher, who was a bit of a hippie, saw my toes moving inside my shoes and said "whoa, whenever I pluck a string I can see something move inside your shoes" (he must have been really high, now that I think about it). I was embarrassed at the time to admit that I just had to tap out a beat so I just said they were new shoes and made my toes hurt.

  2. We call that sun tricked here. Bright and sunny and inviting, and so cold once you go outside. Where I live it's pretty much sunny all the time including in the winter.

I talk to myself. All the time. It's a source of never ending amusement to my students.

  3. I'm very OCD about checking the stove knobs before leaving the house - repeatedly. And in stores, if I see a can of soup, a box of cereal, or something like that turned upside down I have to fix it. Drives my husband batty. LOL
