What I'm Reading This Week #35

Howdy do and happy last Friday of August!  I hope you had a good week and if your weather was like ours, it was FINALLY under 93 degrees.  Don't get me wrong, I know sweater weather isn't here but it was nice to not have the AC working overtime (set to 76) starting at 11am every day!   It was nice to not walk out to water the garden and walk into a wall of humidity so I will take what I can get.    Speaking of which: With this 3" San Marzano , I shall be able to make enough sauce to cover 7.3 spaghetti noodles. 😒 Now let's get to: How to Stock Your Pantry for Quick & Easy Meals in Minutes   (Ooh, I need to crockpot some black beans for some sweet potato black bean burritos.) What Happens to Your Body When You Start Lifting Weights After 50   (Stay strong, sharp, and independent—no matter when you start.) Ditching This Common Food Type Could Double Weight Loss, According To Scientists (It makes sense and I've started to cut back on them for ...

What I'm Reading This Week #50

Top of the morning to you and welcome to mid December!  Next week is when a lot of shipping deadlines go into effect so if you don't have your shopping done for your out of towners, tis the season to shake your tail feathers!  I thankfully have my peeps done, I need to slip some moolah into two cards for my local friend to put with his cookies and I think I'm done.  The one friend I shopped on prime day back in July and did both her birthday and Christmas to save some dough.  High five to past me.

Now let's celebrate:

7 Lower Back Stretches to Reduce Pain and Improve Mobility  (All ones I can't live without and yet need to do more.  But this always comes in handy for those DEEP spots stretches can't get.)

14 Melting Potato Recipes That Are the Ultimate Combination of Creamy and Crispy  (Yum!  These will get you through the winter for sure!)

Here’s How Long It Takes Before Your Muscles Decondition  (In case you're taking a break over the holidays but then get back to pumpin' iron!)

5 Micro-Meditations to Reduce Stress  (Good tips heading into the thick of holiday season!)

You Can Make That Store-Bought Pie Crust Look Homemade  (Hey, some years you've got to 'cheat.')

Avoid These Four Common Mistakes When Driving on Black Ice  (Tis the season.  Be careful out there!  Also, keep a pair of these in your car in case you realize too late the area you parked has black ice around it.)

5 Ways to Survive Your Next Family Gathering (For those who have to brace up as part of their holiday preparations)

12 “Polite” Ways You’re Talking About Grief That Are Actually Hurtful  (Something to remember whether it's someone's first year of loss or more)

12 Classic Movies You Didn’t Realize Were Actually Christmas Movies  (Well, this is an interesting list.  In case you need an unorthodox list after the classics.)

It's cookie baking weekend.  My goal is always to get them baked Sunday night and wrapped to go out first thing Monday morning.  I'll have to check with my local for a drop off time and freeze our doughs since we do ours next week.  I need to break out my baking time cheat sheet and make sure the table is cleared off for maximum wrapping room.

What are you into this weekend my fine friends?

  1. I just wrote up my Friday to do list that is separate from my running to do list because it occurred to me that I have to get to the bank today for some Monday gifts for some peeps, and time has now run out. Need to mail a gift card as well so post office here I come. Meeting a friend for lunch before she heads to AZ for the winter to be with some of her kids and grandchildren. And Sunday is my baking day after church so need to get everything ready for that. Super busy weekend but once Monday is over I'm in the clear, and just need to wrap the hub's gifts.
I hope you guys have a great weekend and can get everything done you need to do. Enjoy a Christmas movie or two as well!🎄☃️🎅🤶
