Good Monday to you all. I hope you had a great weekend and are well rested and rarin' to go. We had a little bit of everything. Friday we were happy there was a new
Project Fear to dive into. We found out Chelsea had a very scary birth over the weekend as well and she almost didn't make it. Thankfully her and the baby are still recovering. Very happy she and the newest little ghost hunter are coming through okay.
Saturday we grabbed a regrettable lunch and while we were chatting over it talking about Grandma and the turmoil surrounding the death of her dad and how greed reared its ugly head, we got a very immediate and specific sign from her and started laughing. I love the way people are able to do that in an unmistakable way. We drove out to the grave of our pup and my fur sister. It had been far too long and they were in need of attention. We did as best we could with the
rechargeable trimmers we had on us. (Even though they're not meant to be edgers, it always works for that purpose on graves. I highly recommend them if you're someone who maintains loved ones graves.) Mom's pup's grave is sinking on the right side and it looks like the concrete pad has crumbled.
I'm not sure how to rectify that other than maybe rocks or pea gravel if we can get a
crowbar under it? Open to suggestions.
We drove around the "country" which warehouses and big business are swallowing. I burst into tears when I saw the warehouses that had completely engulfed the land at the end of my paternal grandma's street that I always took for granted would be green space. I really hate how far the corporate greed stretches and how it kills the quality of life. It is going to cost us our electricity to run these damn things and they have already forecasted grid interruptions. I know the companies sure as hell aren't going to do anything but collect tax breaks to 'bring jobs.' It's going to swallow the last part of my childhood in the next few years and there just won't be anything here for us anymore. It's hard to explain to the Mr or anyone else lucky enough to have their hometowns in tact just how much it rips out your heart. There's nowhere to go back to and it cuts deep. When we came back, the Mr checked on the compost bucket and it's coming along.

Wow, that is WAY smaller than it was a week ago when it was full to the top!! I guess we can start saving food scraps again.
I got to work on a burlap skirt for the planters to try to hide all of the crap that needs to be stored out there. Of course no amount of measuring, planning and the like made it turn out the way it was supposed to and the poor Mr had to get involved. I could imagine what he was mumbling under his breath. Ultimately, I had to grab our
upholstery stapler and he had to staple the twine to the leg because it was NOT cooperating.

Excuse the mess, everything was moved around . |
If you only knew how many times I measured and marked and did everything I was supposed to to get that thing to NOT drag the ground. 😡 Eff it. I
scotchguarded the fabric front and back and on the bottom so it's going to have to do. If I need to hem it in the future, fine. PFFFT! Hopefully the wrinkles will hang out of them over the next week or two.
Other than that, not much else. Thrilling, is it not?
What did you get into this weekend?

Another weekend that went by faster than the week preceding it but that's how it goes. At least we accomplished some stuff.
ReplyDeleteThat weekend flew. 🫤
DeleteI can't believe it's already June. Weekend was good. Usual stuff with work and some chores. Enjoyed some downtime after church so that felt great. Now we prepare for a really hot week with soaring temps. Last day for the windows and doors to be open for sure.
