Hide and Seek Weekend Recap

It's Monday again!   source I'll probably be lapsing into cartoon speak because ever since we saw that major companies are purging the cartoons of our youth we've been buying up what we don't already have.  A Scooby Doo , two Looney Tunes and another Sesame Street from our era since the Public Television that's been teaching children for decades has been defunded.  If you listen to nothing else I say, buy physical copies of your favorites and do it quick.  Prices on DVD's are going to skyrocket once these are pulled for good this year and right now you can get many between $12-60 depending on how many episodes are on each bundle or if you get the entire series.  Physical copies means they can't revoke digital rights copies you buy for cheaper when disputes pop up and someone gets their undies in a twist and takes their toys and goes home taking all of the copies you paid for with it. *stepping off of soapbox* Another low key weekend for the most part....

What I'm Reading This Week #32

Howdy do y'all and how's it hanging this week?  It feels weird to not have had people traipsing in and out of the house all week.  I'll take it though.  We haven't had any storms yet, of course so no sigh of relief just yet but fingers crossed.  What I can happily update is in using the moisture meter against the wall yesterday, is the off the chart over 99 number we got before that set off alarms?  It's now down to 24 and technically considered dry but those baseboards aren't going back up until we've had some storms.  I can't tell you how relieving it is to have that meter so we know the moisture is going down in a place we couldn't see unless we cut out a huge piece of drywall.  Tuesday I did some zinnia pruning as that task got ignored for two weeks because of the aforementioned traipsers (new word).  It'll be interesting to see if rando zinnias start popping up due to the petals that have seeds attached falling off.  I was working beside a big ol bumblebee who was face first in pollen the whole time so he didn't care I was there.  Then I put on some fertilizer and such and I was happy to get that done.  I saw some lil broccoli sprouts are popping in the bucket I ripped the old one from.  We'll see which one is stronger and I'll thin it and hope for the best.  I'm thinking of doing that for one more plant too.  I almost pulled the brussels sprout but gave it one more chance since it apparently goes until October.  It was a gamble crop anyway and the chance of it growing was minimal.  We pulled some lettuce and arugula from the big planter for a turkey burger the other night so that was nice.

Speaking of the big planter, the right front caster pooped the bed and imploded which will need to be fixed in late fall or early spring depending on how we feel.  We thought they were pretty secured with four 3" screws through a chunk of 2x4 but for whatever reason that waved the white flag.  That particular planter is a monster and with our cobblestone patio, I don't know that we need the casters on it because there is NO moving that thing when there's dirt in it.  (Not without it feeling like it's going to break apart.)  Once all of the veggies are out of it, we'll have to put the soil on a tarp and fix it.  I'm thinking next year's problem depending on how long the season stretches this year.

Our workouts this week:

Sunday- Turbo Fire Tone
Monday- Walk Away the Pounds 3 miles
Tuesday- Fitness Blender Barre
Wednesday- Air Drumming
Thursday- Fitness Blender Upper Body
Friday- Cardio

Now let's stretch into:

7 Science-Backed Ways to Boost Your Workout (Uh, I'm not doing #1.  Blech.)

Psyllium Husk Benefits: How a 30-Second Habit Finally Stopped My Crazy Bloating (I need to stop snoozing my reminder to take this in the afternoon.)

We Asked Laundry Pros Why Our Towels Smell Like Mildew and They Gave Us the Easiest Fix. (Nothing worse than grabbing a clean towel and getting that smell.  Time to bust out the tough stuff!)

Mistakes People Make When Renting A Car  (The one they don't include is making sure you get the LDW coverage and that's speaking from experience.  Our cars were hit twice in Hawaii out of 14 trips while we were parked.  The first time we didn't have LDW (Loss Damage Waiver) and spent half the day trying to pop the dent out on Maui with a plunger, driving 50 minutes away for a dent kit and finally got it.  The next time while shopping when someone ran in and said someone hit the car and left and they got the license number.  Now car rental companies are using AI to scan the car before you leave and when it's returned.  People are being charged a minimum of $500 for something they didn't even see before they even land.  LDW is expensive daily but it's peace of mind and could be hundreds to thousands less with AI scanned returns.)

Miss a post here this week?  Catch up below!

I'm hoping my back is healed up enough to be able to either paint the newel post, which requires me to bend over while in a chair for a bit or maybe start digging through some stuff.  I'll feel better toward the end of the day and then who knows what the mornings bring so I'm hoping to wake up tomorrow feeling able bodied.  I do want to get some more Fall stuff up.  I'm ready for it and I really didn't decorate for the summer so I'd like a room that looks like I put some effort into it.  Mr- grab the Snoopy jumping into leaves doormat please.  For those rolling their eyes at the thought, I shall share something (sound on) that will address that thought and hopefully make you laugh as hard as I did.

Anything going on for you this weekend?

  1. I'm glad we got that meter too. So nice to be able to keep track of that without necessarily having to wait for storms. Have a great weekend everyone!

  2. Congrats on the happy meter readings!! This has been an incredibly stressful week at work. All kind of state regulation changes that all conflict with each other. I've been completely lost, exhausted, and humming with tension. On the plus size I got the laundry done, grocery shopping done, and we got a trip to Costco in this afternoon to pick up a script. Looking forward to a little slower pace this weekend as I tackle some stuff. I hope you guys have a good weekend, and enjoy the freedom of no other humans in or around your house!
