Hide and Seek Weekend Recap

It's Monday again!

I'll probably be lapsing into cartoon speak because ever since we saw that major companies are purging the cartoons of our youth we've been buying up what we don't already have.  A Scooby Doo, two Looney Tunes and another Sesame Street from our era since the Public Television that's been teaching children for decades has been defunded.  If you listen to nothing else I say, buy physical copies of your favorites and do it quick.  Prices on DVD's are going to skyrocket once these are pulled for good this year and right now you can get many between $12-60 depending on how many episodes are on each bundle or if you get the entire series.  Physical copies means they can't revoke digital rights copies you buy for cheaper when disputes pop up and someone gets their undies in a twist and takes their toys and goes home taking all of the copies you paid for with it. *stepping off of soapbox*

Another low key weekend for the most part.  I will say that Thursday and Friday I finally did a coat of paint on the newel post to get things started.  It was going to be mostly white but with brown embellishments I bought last year and stained waiting for this moment.  Then I wondered if the bottom chonk would look better with brown paint/stain and the Mr was skeptical and I said I wanted it and if I did it and it looked like crap I'd just paint it white again.  Once I started painting the brown, he tilts his head and says "I wonder if the whole thing would look better brown?"  (Like I suggested initially but he said it'd be too heavy then which I reminded him of.  LOL)  He said he was thinking so I just slapped paint on one side and he said he liked it so I got the whole thing painted with three coats of paint ready to move on to stain over the weekend.

I was pretty sure I knew exactly where the embellishments and trim that were cut precisely for that area was because I could see it in my mind.  They had been sitting on the craft table forever until I started my seeds back in March and basically everything from then got chucked on the floor under the craft table.  After our workout, I went to get them Friday night to be ready for Saturday and couldn't find them.  I looked everywhere.  Under the table, in a pile of crap we haven't addressed, in drawers and I was ticked.  I told the Mr I couldn't find them and he said he thought they were on the table.  Yeah 6 months ago.  Saturday the search continued and I found the trim pieces which is great because he spent a lot of time on those but those don't mean much to frame the embellishment if they're missing.  I told him I wasn't doing anything else on the newel post without those because it's worthless to do so.  (And its at the ugly stage right now too so it's not something you really want to keep as is.)  He went down to look too and came up empty handed.  Didn't need that.  I got these two plant stands for $10 each on a special limited deal so I could corral some of the pots out back which will help so that was the biggest thrill of Saturday other than my headache.

Sunday was a lazy day.  The Mr got up but said he was still tired so we just laid around, then he grabbed some coffee and a nana with peanut butter for breakfast to watch the quintessential middle ager show, Sunday Morning.   He had some computer upgrades to do and before we knew it, it was after 6pm and it was time to get our Turbo Fire Sculpt workout in.  That was a wicked pisser and we were glad it was done.  Lots of compound moves in that one so even though it's only 30 minutes, it packs a lot in.  We did have a victory beforehand though.  We were starting to poke around in some bags and such looking for the wood embellishments and the Mr said "I think I found them."  Sure enough!  They were in a bag hanging up on the side of a shelving unit with a big piece of leftover trim hanging out.  I can absolutely tell you the train of thought for that.

"With this big piece of trim hanging out, we'll surely remember right where these are!"

Clearly it didn't and the finished trim pieces weren't in there with them and:

Afterward, I had to really dig into my calf muscles with the balls and I went between almost screaming or puking from the pain.  Yeah.  I need to keep that up on the daily or the IT band issues on the right are going to get even worse.

Then back upstairs to watch the final Project Fear video for a while (hopefully not until October) and then ze weekend, she was done.

How did your weekend pan out?

  1. So glad we ended up finding those embellishments just so we can continue the progress and not stall out again. I need to get more molding for the stringer too. Time to remeasure cause I don't remember how much to get.

  2. It was a good weekend that kept us hopping until Saturday afternoon when I finally sat down. We had massive rain yesterday so the humidity is through the roof. Brookfield WI got 14 inches of rain the other day!😳 Have to go into the office this week to meet the new compliance manager. With how fast August is going it'll be autumn before we know it.🤗
