What I'm Reading This Week #25
Hello and happy Friday from the land of the scorching sun. We are in for absolute Hades conditions the next few days, right on cue for the summer solstice. You know I'm not happy about that. 😒 Thankfully, my other 50% shade cloth just arrived and is airing out so they can go on in the afternoons. I have stuff in the big planters that are not fans of scorching heat so I need to be as on it as possible if I don't want it to go to poop for other reasons to add to the current reasons. (Rain, pests, etc) I'm tryin' y'all! I just got my little lint rollers to roll aphids/larvae off instead of wasting shipping tape. I swear to you I have not seen ONE BEE since everything went in. There was this chubby bumble bee that would hang out when our lilac was in bloom and just zone out levitating so I thought for sure she would be here for it all. Nope. The second it bloomed, it was gone. I haven't seen honeybees at all. I've checked ...
Disneyland, Sea World, the beach and Yosemite as a kid.

I live in California not SF but it's just gorgeous here. Within about 45 minutes I am at the beach, desert or in 15 in the mountains. It's wonderful. Glad you enjoyed your stay:)
ReplyDeleteIf you disclosed you were on vacation before now I missed it, but boy do I enjoy hearing about your trips!!
ReplyDeleteMy father lived in San Francisco when I was a child and we spent 3-4 weeks there several summers in a row. My aunt lived in San Jose at the time so we would go there too. I've never been back to northern California as an adult, but would love to go back. My dad moved to the coast of LA when I was in high school and I visited him several times there. My aunt moved to Santa Barbara and I've visited her several times. I enjoy visiting California but couldn't imagine living there.
Your trip sounds fantastic and I can't wait to hear more about where you went!
Been to San Francisco a few times as a kid, my aunt & uncle (and later my grandma) lived in Sacramento and when we'd go to visit, we'd usually spend a day in San Francisco. I am always reminded of the Mark Twain quote, "The coldest winter I ever spent was the summer I spent in San Francisco." It has been cold every time I've gone there, and it was always summer time. I know the people who set up on corners, selling sweatshirts are probably rich enough to afford housing in San Francisco. The last time I was there was in August of 1989 on a family vacation with my own kids. We went to an Oakland A's baseball game in the afternoon, and we all got sunburnt. Then that night we took a tour of San Francisco on one of those carts, and had to cuddle up underneath heavy blankets they provided, of course all of us wearing the brand new sweatshirts we had bought from the street vendors. But I do love the city--particularly that Golden Gate Bridge! Breathtaking! Thanks for sharing your amazing pictures!
ReplyDeleteI love the Clint Eastwood movie "Play Misty for Me" for all the scenes of Carmel. would love to go
