Welp, It's July Weekend Recap

Good Monday morning and welcome to July.  I would like to think maybe it will surprise us all by bucking trends and dip into a temperature with an 8 in the beginning instead of this 90's BS that has been June.

I did a thing last week.  I finally started therapy.  Yep.  I know a lot of you are like "about damn time!!" and honestly so am I.  But the deductible has been met, it's $60/mo because of that and no time like the present.  It's not even about grief yet, it's just trying to make sense of everything from divorce on.  Can I say how lucky I was to hit the virtual jackpot from the word go because she is like talking to a friend. She's also reactionary meaning some of the things I've told y'all like about grandma's husbands behavior and such made her jaw drop.  I do my second session Wednesday so I'm excited for that.

I officially broke myself last week hunched over my laptop working on designs all week.  My lower back was a hot mess no amount of rolling or stretching could undo.  Thank God my chiro really went to town on me and I was feeling better when I left him after 78 cracks in various places.  The only horror is he's on vacation this week and completely booked the following week so I can't get in for 2 weeks.  I'm going to have to be super proactive.

I wish I could say we did a bunch of fun stuff but with trying to get a somewhat stocked shop, I spent the weekend the same way I spent the week.  If anyone is interested, I'll likely be linking to it next week when I hopefully have a few more items up.  I'm doing the exact thing you're not supposed to do which is a lot of designs of things I like or would buy but I need to be inspired first before designing solely for the sake of others or what's trending.  Every day I'm reminded how hard this part is since my other stores have backslid into oblivion.  I also know I probably have a good two years before I see any actual payout and that is real hard to swallow when you see how much you're neglecting your spouse for some hopeful future benefit.  I will need to set some time boundaries soon.  At this point I feel so guilty if I'm not working on it, I actually combined eating and floor bike last week because I knew I wouldn't stop to do my "NEAT" exercise otherwise.  My biggest time suck is creating SKUs for apparel so I made a spreadsheet yesterday that I can copy and paste from to hopefully save time.  I'm tired of going to bed with a headache every day.

We did LIIFT 4 Back and Bi's and I did my first strength training session.  It felt good but also took a lot out of me.  Afterward, the Mr was fixing the ceiling fan in the bedroom and he seriously screwed his SI joint to the point he had to call me up.  I did all I could do to help stretch him out, used our massage gun and stuff like that.  He wasn't really able to move so we set him up with the heating pad on the office bed and he watched Fletch Lives while I got another design done.  He came down for dinner but as I type he's very squirmy and can't get comfortable.  Hopefully he's feeling a little better this morning.

The only solace with all of this work I've been doing the past few weeks has been that it's fried my brain to the point of being numb to the fact we're about to go through our last an most traumatic month of "firsts" for mom.  I will have a post tomorrow where I am finally able to tell you everything that happened to her since I was pursuing legal avenues before then.  As always, there are lessons that screwed us that hopefully one of you can benefit from if you find yourself in the same unfortunate situation.  Given that doctor negligence/error is apparently the forth leading cause of death behind heart disease, cancers and covid, sadly one of you likely will.

That brings us to now.

What did you do this weekend?

  1. I wish I had better news this morning but I still can't walk without using furniture and It's looking like I will be teleworking from the office bed for the foreseeable future. I am glad you found a good therapist who listens well as that can be an otherwise frustrating process.

  2. So happy for your therapy and your new business!! The designs are awesome and you're going to do great!
Weekend was very busy but good. Had lunch with a friend for her birthday Friday, and breakfast with another friend for her birthday on Saturday. Then had to work because it was month end. I recorded all the gymnastics trials so I enjoyed watching those before bed every night. Definitely need to get more sleep this week though as my gritty eyes are reminding me.
