Non Scale Victories This Week

During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses.  I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses.  My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights.  Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through.  On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower.  I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. Football and friends

Twas a great weekend.  Can we hit rewind and just do it all over again?

In preparation for our first Hawaii game of the year, I made some 'ono grinds' as they call it in the islands.  Loco moco for lunch and kalua pork for dinner.  A normal fan might be bummed they didn't score but they were going against a hard team and they held them quite a bit.  Hawaii's defense was on point and it was a blast to watch!  Another fan told us about how we might be able to see more of their games online so I hope to watch more of them this season!  I love underdog teams and find them way more fun to get behind than people who are expected to win.  That's why they make movies about underdogs, right?

Before we knew it the day was pretty much done and I was curled up under a blanket snoozing on the couch.  We slept with the windows open so we could take advantage of the short lived peek of Fall we were getting this weekend.  I'm ready.  Like buh bye 80's and up....see ya wouldn't wanna be ya and all that jazz.

Sunday was our paddleboard lesson with a friend.  The Mr taught his wife earlier in the summer and now it was his turn.

I'll be honest, we thought he'd cancel and he later admitted he wasn't jazzed about doing it but was glad he did.  I don't know what it is about those two but they both had the worst water conditions of all of the people we taught this summer.  I felt bad for them.  She had some serious chop and waves and he had serious current and wind that spun all of us.  Honestly, if the Mr and I were alone, I don't know if we would've gone out in it because I knew our shoulders were going to be killing us.  I was right.  We both ended up feeling super beat up afterward and iced most of the night and rolled our legs. I still don't feel great but I think we've made yet another water sport fan which is great.

We had bbq chicken and sweet potato for dinner and as with so many other post paddle dinners, we could feel the energy being soaked up by our bodies.  We were pooped.

I must say a little hello to our fur angel who left us 8 years ago today.  I don't know where the time has gone.

I'm ready for the week ahead but am thankful for a great weekend!

What did you do this weekend?

  1. What a weekend! Proud of the way Hawaii's defense performed. They should be proud and I hope they get some of the recognition despite the score. Sure hope we get to see more of their games this season.

Man that paddle was rough! The wind was killer and if it had been like that the entire time I'm not even sure what I would've done but I know I was sure glad when we made it back to the launch area and in the end I'm glad our friend still enjoyed it enough to want to get his own board some day soon. That is all I hoped for was to give all our friends a chance to try it and see for themselves if it interests them or not.

  2. Sounds like a great weekend!
I got my stripping done and that project is complete. I finally trimmed my neighbor's pines that have been literally sitting in my gutters for 2 years. Last project was putting up a base and hanging my flag up. You love this weather and call it fall, I consider it winter!
I made a huge pot of beef stew to warm up and it is yumz!
    Have an awesome week!

  3. Parade and a kids birthday party Saturday. Then housework, school work, groceries, and a nice nap yesterday. Not as great a weekend as yours, but not terrible either.

  4. Oh now that sounds like just the loveliest weekend! We had good weather here too, but I didn't get to explore too much of it because I ended up getting sick. It's either a head cold or strep, but of course the doc won't do anything until the culture comes back (unlike the NP who put me on antibiotics right away and sure enough, I had strep c so by the time I got the results I was already feeling better because I had the abx in me for 3 days...grrrr). I did manage to meet a friend for dinner (before I got hit with this) and that was a lot of fun. The pups sure did enjoy some car rides with the windows down and their ears flapping in the wind. The lil' buggers just make me smile!
