What I'm Reading This Week #34
Hello you sassy beast! Ready for another flip flappin' fantastic weekend? Yes indeedy, Ally Sheedy. It's been a week of working ahead for me as I try to work on ideas for holiday posts. I know, no one is ready for Christmas but spit balling stuff is actually getting me excited for the season. I like to try to give myself the month of December off from writing new posts (except updating weekly happenings) so all I have to do is respond if needed. It lets me take a little mental break during the holidays to try to enjoy what I can then hop back into the new year hopefully rested and ready to roll. We did book our 30th anniversary trip, which is the same one we had to cancel this year and of course got travel insurance. It's just nice to have something to hopefully look forward to and it makes you go "where the heck did 4 1/2 years go?" because it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating our 25th. Do people even celebrate their 30t...
Can't go wrong with any of those dishes for the big day! I can vouch for that and am thankful that I get to try 'em all! Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting this. I love it. I have not yet created my menu although tomorrow I'm going to someones house so it's not that pressing. I still make myself a turkey breast and a couple of sides to eat for the week after. Such yummy stuff.
ReplyDeleteHave a good one!
My hubby doesn't like turkey any way you cook it, so, we are having chicken cordon easy, skinny mashed potatoes, homemade rolls, peas and pumpkin, apple or pecan pie. Then we're off Friday morning on our annual get away and boy, do we need it!!!! WWWWooooooohhoooooooo!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the round up! I'm not cooking tomorrow, but I've got guests coming on Monday and would have been searching through recent blogs for some of these. I appreciate your making it easy. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThat Pumpkin Gingerbread Loaf is calling my name! I hope you have a Happy Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThe pumpkin gingerbread loaf sounds good to me too, but I'm thinking of that closer to Christmas. Maybe something to take in and share at work.
ReplyDeleteStill, tomorrow's menu is a page from your playbook
Turkey & gravy (done by hubby, I don't know what goes into it, and I don't want to)
Mashed potatoes - done with chicken broth
Stuffing - your recipe
Sweet figgy potatoes - from a couple weeks back
broccoli and carrots
Brussels sprouts ala Mrs. if I can find fresh ones today
pumpkin pie - from my mom
if I get ambitious I'm also going to make those gingersnap crust pumpkin things you posted last year, and a couple batches of cookies from last years 12 days of treats.
Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow!
I tend to stay classic for my menu - sausage stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey. Although this year we are grilling the turkey on the Weber, and I am making a cranberry/apple jam as a side.
ReplyDeleteI am actually looking forward to leftovers!
Happy Thanksgiving!
