Non Scale Victories This Week

During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses.  I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses.  My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights.  Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through.  On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower.  I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. The weather outside is...perfect

Okay, so remember how I said we were taking the Christmas stuff down this weekend?  Yeah, that ain't happenin'...especially not with this going on for the first time since the tree has been up...

It rained but the temps dropped and Sunday morning we woke up to snow!  There was no way in heck I was taking down the tree the first time there was any snow that stuck!  So instead we went out and played in it!  Well, not played but we walked the trails twice and stopped to enjoy the beautiful scenery and loved being able to see each individual snowflake on rails and signs.  Thankfully we put on thermals and were able to be out for about 2 hours while we walked 2 1/2 miles.  Then it was time to go to the grocery store.  This was the first real haul since the holidays since we have basically just been grabbing what we needed here and there.  It feels good to have the house fully stocked.

Since getting my sense of taste back, I've been dying for a turkey sandwich.  I broke out the bacon date jam I froze and the oakwood cheddar Trader Joe hooked me with and made a panini and cinnamon honey sweet potato half.

We spent the rest of the evening with the tree lit, the lights off and watched the snow fall.  I'm glad my laziness overtook me so we could enjoy the decorations in their proper atmosphere.

  1. It was a great day. I didn't mind the cold and loved the snow. It was good to see some others walking out in it too. There are others like us out there!

  2. I'm so happy that you got some snow and had the chance to enjoy it! We got about 3 inches last Thursday/Friday and I can't lie, it made me smile :). Have a great week!

  4. We don't get a lot of snow here most years, so even a few flakes makes me smile.

I'm glad you got to enjoy your tree with the proper background, and that you got to spend some times outside enjoying the snow.

I had a mammogram on Saturday. The was the excitement for my weekend. woohoo.

  5. We got the snow as well but the temps took a dive and it's -5 below right now. The next few days are supposed to be bitterly cold then warm up a bit. The dogs' tootsies are not happy. LOL It was a light, fluffy snow though so easy to shovel and pretty to look at.

I had a meeting on Saturday, then met a friend for a lovely lunch. Took care of some bills and stuff for my mom on Sunday. Basically did some house stuff for the most part. I, too, need to make a grocery store run at some point. Right now though it's cold outside and I want to stay snuggled up with the pups! LOL

  6. I don't blame you one bit for leaving the tree and decorations up. I grew up in North Idaho and always had a white Christmas. I live a few miles north of Seattle and rarely have snow at Christmas. We did have an inch a week or so ago (for a day or two). I always love to see the white stuff fall from the sky, see the air that I breathe and the chill I feel on the outside is nothing compared to the warmth I feel inside.
