Non Scale Victories This Week

During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses.  I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses.  My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights.  Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through.  On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower.  I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. Balmy day and upcoming Halloween hijinx

Happy Hump Day y'all!

Yesterday was kind of uneventful.  Oh!  I did finally get around to making the Mr's after shave balm.  It's 1/2 cup of Shea Butter , 2 tbsp of Jojoba Oil and Lavender Essential Oil.  (affiliate links)  I softened the shea butter in the microwave and whipped everything together with the hand mixer.  I saved back and sanitized one of my empty Beekman honey jars for something and that was it.

It's a good moisturizer to use after any kind of shaving so who knows, I might grab some from time to time.

The Mr is in a training class this week so he gets off later than usual for three days.  Last night he had some overtime he had to work after hours so that left us with a very thin window to get in our workout.  It was basically a straight shot to the dungeon when he got in the door.  We did Turbo Fire 45 EZ.   For dinner I made chicken black bean quesadillas and brussels which unfortunately got a little more charred than I care to serve.  Sigh.

I was flipping channels and saw the original Friday the 13th was on.  Man that is a looong friggin' movie with no real action until the last 20 minutes.  I don't know that I'll be watching that again any time soon.  Hmm, I suppose I should throw Nightmare on Elm Street on in the next few days and maybe oh yeah...Fright Night!  The REAL one from '85.  Maybe that's what we'll do Saturday is have a Halloween movie marathon.  It's the day we get to pick out a few different kinds of fun sized bars for our Halloween candy instead of buying the bags of candy for trick or treaters that never come and we're stuck with temptation by the bag.  Plus it'll be mah 'ladies days' so chocolate will be in order anyway.

What Halloween candy do you buy for the trick or treaters?  Do you buy something you like or something that doesn't tempt you?  (Like I could buy a bag of Almond Joys and never touch that stuff but you give me a bag of the orange and black wrapped peanut butter bit o' honey thingys that nobody wants and the Mr and I are goners!)

  1. The balm feels good on my neck. Thank you! You're right, a little goes a long way.

  2. I like the bit o honey things too. I usually buy stuff that I like well enough (because let's face it, there's not much candy I don't like) but not my favorites. I usually buy a couple giant bags of a tootsie mix and give my kids at school a couple candies and then put out whatever's left for trick or treaters. The last several years I've just put a bowl on my front step so I can take the boy trick or treating and not feel bad about being yet another dark light on my street where there are actually quite a few kids. I always figure I'll come home and it'll be gone, bowl and all, but so far there's always been some candy left when I get back. It actually gives me hope in a weird sort of way - we talk about "kids these days", but when given the chance to dump a whole bowl of candy in their bag they don't.

  3. I buy straight up chocolate bars for the kiddos because the hubs loves his chocolate and I know it won't go to waste. I'm fine with chocolate in the house--never been a big pull for me. But what I cannot have in the house is any of the other kind of candy like Dots, Mike 'n Ike's, any type of "acid" candy (Skittles, etc). That would be my downfall because I'd eat the whole bag and go looking for more. Oh yeah, and no peeps. Love me some peeps so I need to stay away. =o)

  4. I think I lost your posts....i was wondering where you were and here you are. I buy chocolate bars, doesn't matter to me. When I could have sugar I'd eat almost anything and now I wouldn't have it if you paid me. I guess it makes that part easier. :)
