What I'm Reading This Week #34
Hello you sassy beast! Ready for another flip flappin' fantastic weekend? Yes indeedy, Ally Sheedy. It's been a week of working ahead for me as I try to work on ideas for holiday posts. I know, no one is ready for Christmas but spit balling stuff is actually getting me excited for the season. I like to try to give myself the month of December off from writing new posts (except updating weekly happenings) so all I have to do is respond if needed. It lets me take a little mental break during the holidays to try to enjoy what I can then hop back into the new year hopefully rested and ready to roll. We did book our 30th anniversary trip, which is the same one we had to cancel this year and of course got travel insurance. It's just nice to have something to hopefully look forward to and it makes you go "where the heck did 4 1/2 years go?" because it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating our 25th. Do people even celebrate their 30t...

It was nice looking through old cards with you. It's a good reminder of all the good friends and family you have. The only thing is that we'll really need to start writing the dates on the backs of cards that we keep so we'll know which event they were for in the future.
ReplyDeleteWe do need to write dates on the cards especially when we refer to something going on currently and have no freaking clue what we're referring to 5 years later.
DeleteHaha Blazing Saddles. I think my mom felt bad enjoying it with me. Well, maybe not so much enjoying it with me but wasn't sure if she should be laughing at the dirty jokes and then realizing her daughter understood where to laugh. Isn't that just it though; that we could laugh at our dumb selfs, together?!

DeleteI love old cards and try to remember to date them, even the ones I send out to others. Right now I have four cards on display, long past the current month or so that I usually leave out cards I get. One is a really sweet Christmas card from my youngest son (he was planning to move out and I think realizing how much he was going to miss us), one from old friends who are also fighting cancer, and it is especially meaningful as it talks about how old friendships are something to be treasured, a lovely birthday card from my husband (my BD is 1/1), and a Valentine's card I got for hubs. Eventually they will all go in my "treasure chest," but for now I can't bring myself to put them away.
ReplyDeleteMovies my parents and I bonded over? Hmmm, old westerns with my Dad probably, but with my Mom it was, Gone With the Wind and South Pacific.
Good, then I don't feel so bad about just now putting away my V-day cards. ;-) We were going through some cards that cracked us up that our friends gave us, one written from their now deceased pup's perspective. I'm glad I kept them.

DeleteMom and I have always bonded Disney cartoon movies. We both have a thing for mice and we've always gotten a kick out of the mice from Cinderella. And Aladdin is one of her favorites because of Robin Williams.
ReplyDeleteI was just looking at my copy of Cinderella the other day and thinking "did I ever watch this??" I need to rectify that! Anything with Robin Williams is awesome! (Would you believe we haven't seen Aladdin? *ducking*)
DeleteI love Spaceballs. Always one of my favorites. When I was a kid my folks and I watched Blazing Saddles. The first time I was too young to get most of it, but as an adult it is still one of my favorites.
