What I'm Reading This Week #34

Hello you sassy beast!  Ready for another flip flappin' fantastic weekend?  Yes indeedy, Ally Sheedy. It's been a week of working ahead for me as I try to work on ideas for holiday posts.  I know, no one is ready for Christmas but spit balling stuff is actually getting me excited for the season.  I like to try to give myself the month of December off from writing new posts (except updating weekly happenings) so all I have to do is respond if needed.  It lets me take a little mental break during the holidays to try to enjoy what I can then hop back into the new year hopefully rested and ready to roll.   We did book our 30th anniversary trip, which is the same one we had to cancel this year and of course got travel insurance.  It's just nice to have something to hopefully look forward to and it makes you go "where the heck did 4 1/2 years go?" because it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating our 25th.  Do people even celebrate their 30t...

Post vacation weigh in

(via)

Welp, I'm up 10 pounds, he's up 11.

I know that may horrify some of you but honestly, I'm relieved.  We were having big breakfasts every day and basically dessert after lunch and dinner because of all of the places we wanted to try so I can only imagine how many thousands of calories we were taking each day.  The Mr was sure 20 was going to be the magic number.  I was hoping for 6 like after Chicago but we were on vacation three times as long as Chicago so I knew that could only be the best case scenario.  I honestly had no idea what to expect and we haven't been hitting the exercise like maniacs the past two weeks.  (Mostly walks and this week some strength sessions)

So we go forward from here.  I've been hitting my water goals every day this week so this weekend will be a test to make sure I hit it there too.  I'm looking forward to getting my old probiotic today because the one I tried last week, well, we'll say it has been a painful experience and leave it at that.  I'm going to look over my old menus from before we left on the week's I had the most weight loss and replicate those to get this flubber off as quick as possible.  I've got 11 months until our next big vacation and I don't want to be anywhere near this weight.  We've got some fun new workouts planned for the summer so hopefully mixing it up will also help things come off quicker.

Onward we go!

  1. I am relieved, honestly. I will take 10 and 11. I thought it would be much worse but I this is a weigh-in I can handle and won't let it get to my head as much.

  2. I've been there myself. You can definitely put it on faster than you can take it off. You can do this.

  3. It's scary how quickly calories can sneak up on you. Hopefully the quick gain will be followed by a quick loss. Love the picture of the gun and the scale.

  4. Great attitude! Take stock of the damage and just dig in harder and get back on track. If every person attempting to lose weight (including me) would do this whenever eating gets out of control briefly, none of us would be nearly as heavy as we are now. I aspire to this mindset and behavior, and I appreciate the encouragement that your post brought.
