What I'm Reading This Week #27

Happy Friday everyone!   I hope you've got the day off to enjoy.  I would really appreciate the weather dialing it back from Satan's taint to dryish heat please.  I'm not even asking for much.  Like 83 degrees would make me happy at this point but there's no end in sight to the 90's.  The Mr and I have both been plagued with migraines this week.  He had a two day event and I had an ocular migraine which is just so crappy to deal with since you can't read or do anything until your vision isn't screwed up.   I got to wait on hold for an hour Tuesday with the state tax department so I decided to sand and prime the newel post while listening to hold music designed to make you hang up.  To quote Bugs Bunny "he don't know me vewy well, do he?"  I got that squared away and later went out between pop up storms to deadhead some zinnias which you may have seen in Wednesday's post.   Speaking of Wednesday, it was a busy day in the ga...

Good eats

Howdy doody, y'all!

I had to laugh because the Mr wanted me to take pic of the salad I made him the other day when he was stuck on a conference call.

We had a chicken apple sausage left so I cut that up, put a hard boiled egg and some veggies with his poppyseed dressing.  He was a very happy boy.  :-)

I was a happy girl yesterday morning for breakfast when I got to use the leftover potatoes we had since we cut back our servings.

I made a kind of frittata with two eggs, scallions, leftover taters and a little cheese on top and my nanner.  It held me all morning and came out to 420 calories.

BOOM!

The other night we did Leslie Sansone's Firm 30 (affiliate link) and man not only were my arms and shoulders sore but my inner thighs were screaming.  So I couldn't really do the Turbo Fire I had planned so we did the 3 Mile Weight Loss Walk.  (affiliate link) That one is one of my favorites because Mary Kay's walk in the middle is a nice change of pace.  I can only hope my muscles feel a little better today or I'll have to peruse Fitness Blender and see what kind of body weight strength sessions I can find.

I'm still doing good on the water...a gallon a day.  It's a miracle!

How are you doing on your weight loss goals this week?  What can you improve?

  1. MMMM. I just ate that and I thank you for the tip. It was yummy! Great job on the water! I know that is hard to do but once you get used to peeing so much, it's definitely helpful in many ways.

    1. Glad you liked it! Yeah the water was a bit much to get used to at first but now my bladder has seemed to adjust.

  2. I like to do the potatoes and eggs thing too - delish and it sticks with you.

  3. I went to zumba last night. I'm going to tackle some heavy house cleaning today so that'll count for today. I'm doing a little better on the exercise front, but I need to get back to tracking calories. It's just so time consuming and tedious, and when I was sick I stopped. Getting back into it is hard, but I know that it's worth it.

    1. Zumba is so fun! I forgot about it, might have to bust that out again! It is tedious but a good way to keep yourself in line or get back into it. ;-)

  4. That salad looks great, as does your breakfast. I think it's so important to be creative in our cooking and presentations of the food, in order to stay on this healthy journey. It sure makes taking the "high road" easier, when the choice is so yummy-looking and tasting! The Mister is a lucky man. I have always found that a salad tastes so much better when someone else has prepared it. Speaking of the "High Road," that is my favorite breakfast choice at Village Inn. I had it yesterday, you get hash browns, scrambled egg whites, two sausage links and an English Muffin, for a total of 550 calories. I always request "no butter" on my muffin, and use sugar-free jelly instead. I have a feeling they smear that butter on every single English Muffin that goes out of their kitchen, without regard to the at least 100 calories involved, and that 100 added calories is not included in the 550-calorie total they list on the menu. So when I add a couple containers of 10-calorie sugar-free jelly to my muffin, it's a very good trade-off!

    1. Definitely. You really do eat with your eyes first. Yeah I always ask for my steak with no butter or as they like to call it "finishing sauce"...aka butter. Like I need the extra 100+ calories soaking in there. Good on you with the breakfast!

  7. I definitely need to improve my water. For the past two weeks I've really struggled to take it all in at work because I've been working at two different desks and my equilibrium is thrown off there, but I'm really feeling it. My legs are retaining water and my ankles....oy! It starts around 2pm and then it dawns on me that I haven't had my water. Duh. I think I'm going to set an alarm on my email that will pop up on my screen every 30 minutes to remind me to swig. I was doing great at it and something has just been "off" recently. Part of it is I took myself off my bc pills so this is my first full month without them so I'm going through a HUGE hormone adjustment as well too. Water would definitely help with that.

    1. Yes, those reminders will definitely help. I set the microwave timer to go off so I had to get up off my butt too. Oh man, hormone adjustments have to be fun...not.
