What I'm Reading This Week #27

Happy Friday everyone!   I hope you've got the day off to enjoy.  I would really appreciate the weather dialing it back from Satan's taint to dryish heat please.  I'm not even asking for much.  Like 83 degrees would make me happy at this point but there's no end in sight to the 90's.  The Mr and I have both been plagued with migraines this week.  He had a two day event and I had an ocular migraine which is just so crappy to deal with since you can't read or do anything until your vision isn't screwed up.   I got to wait on hold for an hour Tuesday with the state tax department so I decided to sand and prime the newel post while listening to hold music designed to make you hang up.  To quote Bugs Bunny "he don't know me vewy well, do he?"  I got that squared away and later went out between pop up storms to deadhead some zinnias which you may have seen in Wednesday's post.   Speaking of Wednesday, it was a busy day in the ga...

Walking in a (somewhat) Winter Wonderland Weekend Recap

Happy Monday beautiful people!  I hope you had a wonderful weekend full of your favorite things!  I know I sure did...my honey and...

We got the puniest bit of snow but you know dang well I wasn't passing that up!  So off to the park we went after slapping on our thermals and my tootsies stayed cozy thanks to the thicker socks my bestie told me about.

While a little bit stuck, we knew by the radar we had about 45 minutes before it was either going to change to rain or stop altogether.

It was nice because a family was having a birthday gathering keeping each other safe outside in a shelter with a fireplace so we got to enjoy the smell of a fire which you usually only smell in the distance.

We thought we'd hit the trail but it was mostly rainy back there so we cut back up to the asphalt but got to see the seasons co-mingling before gusty winds moved in later and the leaves are now all probably gone.

It was a lovely way to spend the afternoon all snuggled up and soaking wet by the time we were done.  I hope I get many more snowy days to enjoy with my best guy.  Nothing like walking in a (somewhat) winter wonderland!

How was your weekend?  Do anything fun and/or productive?

  1. I did not look at the weather so the snow was a total surprise to me and I loved walking in it. So many people cringe with snow but you can't beat walking in a nice light snow, especially when the roads aren't covered so you don't have to worry about the roads being any worse than they are with rain for the most part. The added bonus was the smell of the fire nearby. Perfect way to spend an afternoon!

  2. I love snow. We don't get a lot of it here so it's always a bit of a novelty which makes it even better - I never have time to get tired of it. I know a bunch of people that loathe it, but I don't really understand it - unless they are ranchers, then I totally get not wanting to deal with livestock in the snow. The boy and I both tested positive last Monday so we were home from school all week and still on isolation over the weekend. Even though it was a good reason and not a punishment, it felt like an adult grounding and I was so glad to get back to work yesterday. We were lucky that both of our symptoms were fairly mild and short lived. We've had quite a local spike and school has gone remote starting today and we return in person after Thanksgiving.

  3. That sounds like a perfect walk in the snow! I love days like that where the roads and paths are dry so you don't slip, but are surrounded by that quiet beauty. Weekend was typical with lots of errands, chores, work, and tons of computer stuff to do. We got some whipping snow but it didn't last more than a day, and then have had flurries on and off since. Temps go from 50 today to 30s tomorrow so it's kind of all over the place.
