What I'm Reading This Week #34

Hello you sassy beast!  Ready for another flip flappin' fantastic weekend?  Yes indeedy, Ally Sheedy. It's been a week of working ahead for me as I try to work on ideas for holiday posts.  I know, no one is ready for Christmas but spit balling stuff is actually getting me excited for the season.  I like to try to give myself the month of December off from writing new posts (except updating weekly happenings) so all I have to do is respond if needed.  It lets me take a little mental break during the holidays to try to enjoy what I can then hop back into the new year hopefully rested and ready to roll.   We did book our 30th anniversary trip, which is the same one we had to cancel this year and of course got travel insurance.  It's just nice to have something to hopefully look forward to and it makes you go "where the heck did 4 1/2 years go?" because it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating our 25th.  Do people even celebrate their 30t...

Product review: Ahh by Rhonda Shear Women's Control Legging

For a long time, I've wanted a pair of full length compression pants.   (affiliate link) I have a few pairs of compression panties (God I hate that word) for workouts and ones that are knee high roll up on me during workouts.  I finally bit the bullet and bought a full length pair.

I went by their measurements and I was right between 2-3x so obviously, you always go a size up when shapewear is involved.  Here's a peek at the label...

Wait!?  Rhonda Shear like from USA's UP All Night back in the day!?  Surprise for the day!

The calves went on fine but once it got to my knees, the struggle got real, yo!

I burned 27 calories putting them on.  I'm not used to shapewear so the jokes I've heard became all too true.  Shield your eyes, the following images aren't flattering at all.

When you give the hubby the camera for a better angle and it still looks like a horror show

I actually got them on!!  It took a lot of that whole pulling them up inch by inch to give more crotch room because being both tall (5'10") and fat is apparently mythical so I could've used another inch or two in that area.  I'm not sure if I would get in these babies for every workout or not but still, they might come in handy.

Actually, I thought of the perfect "test".  A pair of jeans that have taunted me for 3-4 years.  They fit but not in a way I find flattering so I don't wear them.  I thought maybe these would make a big difference.

I don't know about you but I don't see a major difference.  Just slightly in the knees and upper left thigh.  I still have about 10 pounds or so before I'll likely throw them into rotation but it was good for comparison purposes.

They will be nice to have to keep things smooth on occasion if we're going out somewhere nice or something along those lines.  I might wear them when I have a particularly hard workout on tap that has me jumping around.

(FYI- I bought these myself.  I'm a small timer, ain't nobody givin' me crap for free!)

I promise I'll be getting back to Friday links next week for those having withdrawal!  (Donna!)  ;-)

  1. I just need a pair of compression shorts for workouts. Nike Combat has been good but now Underarmour makes a decent, and cheaper, pair that works great to hold the gut in place whilst jumping around.

  2. I have one compression girdle-type panty that I wear to help my back when I'm doing chores or taking the dogs on walks. But I've never bought full length pant ones, and would like to. But I'd need the largest size they carry and often times that's not big enough. I always get a chuckle out of that, even with minimizer bras -- they don't make them big enough to actually compress Wilma and Betty! LOL
