Non Scale Victories This Week

During last night's LIIFT 4 Shoulders workout, I saw an improvement over last weeks shoulder presses.  I was unable to do the 2nd and 3rd sets last week overhead after about 3-4 presses.  My left shoulder would literally fall like I'd lost all muscle control with 10 lb weights.  Yesterday I used the same 10 lbs and it wasn't until the 7th rep on the second set that I started to feel bad fatigue but pushed through.  On the third set my shoulders were shot but I was still able to push overhead even if slower.  I pushed to fatigue but didn't have that dangerous muscle drop I had before. The zinnias I grew from seed are mostly in full bloom and I took some pics before cutting some to put in a little vase. Prep time

If you follow me on Facebook, you know every Sunday I post about preparing for the week.  While yesterday wasn't Sunday, I decided if I was going to potentially do a few nights of this new meal plan I got that I should have some stuff on hand.  Some of the things that come up frequently are...

Quinoa.  I made mine with minced garlic.

Black beans with some chipotle powder.  (From dry bagged to control the sodium)

Roasted sweet potato unseasoned.

Today I will portion them out and freeze them so that we can grab them for lunch or dinner.  I don't quite have everything I need but they will get us through this week and into next week.  This weekend I'll do more stocking up on veggies like peppers, onions and stuff like that to add in.  I'm glad to have these things pre-cooked so that dinner after my ever increasing exercise sessions will be easier to throw together.

Do you prep food for the week to make dinners/meals easier?

  1. I'm glad you're doing this to make it easier on yourself after doing workouts and PT. I can help with it too, especially if it's a heat and eat kind of thing. I am also looking forward to trying out some of the new recipes you have in store to incorporate more vegan into our meals.

  2. I try to do meal prep, but don't follow through very often. It's something I'm working on because when I do cut veggies and/or batch cook I always appreciate my efforts later. I just can't seem to make myself give up a chunk of my weekend to do it on a regular basis.

  3. I typically don't prep for the whole week but I will prep the day before. If it's something that I can fully assemble the night before I'll do that too. But I try to do the chopping, sorting, marinating, etc the day before if possible. I love the idea of having most of the dishes done ahead of time that way.
