What I'm Reading This Week #26

Well you made it to Friday!  I don't know where y'all are but unless you were near Glacier National Park that got snow this week, you were probably boiling in your own pudding to quote Charles Dickens.  I do not dig 90 degrees by noon and it feels like everything is frying left and right including us.  Most of the week I had the 50% shade cloths on the veggies to attempt to save as much as I can.  I need to get the next batch of lettuce in the shade planter to see if I can successfully grow there over the summer since it never gets direct sun.  I told the Mr the other day I feel like nothing is in the right place back there.  I have a lot of containers and I don't know if I need to put some of them on a little ledge since the 5 gallon buckets take up so much room or not.  The zinnias being in a long planter on the fence were a mistake but they were only put there because I had so many extras and didn't want to chuck them.  I have a few struggling...

Basement prep, yummy eats and amazing rent

It was a stiff and sore morning for the Mr and I yesterday but I did a nice hand/wrist stretch video on Do Yoga With Me and it really helped de-stiff the ol' hands from the previous days paddle.  It was hot and humid again but I'm looking forward to the wee cool down we're *supposed* to get over the next few days.

After our strength session, we had to pull away the stuff from walls so the people can come and see what the deal is with our wet basement on the exterior walls.  He's supposed to be here at 9am so please keep your fingers crossed that this is a simple patch job needed and we can move past this pretty quick.  Luckily the TV issue we had was solved with a replacement board the Mr installed and we're back to full sized TV again.  The tree we lost had two others accompany it last week.  I'm not sure why but we saw the landscapers hacking two other ones down so we've got even less greenage.  Damn rain made it so the roots had nothing to hold on to.  Sigh.  I can't believe all of the rain we've had this year.  I can't remember if that means we'll have a more colorful, longer Fall or not.  I hope so.  I can't wait to paddle with the changing leaves!

We had dinner

Honey marmalade glazed salmon over fiesta rice.  So yummy!

I was in the mood for a movie so we rented Begin Again (affiliate link)  with Keira Knightley, Mark Ruffalo and Adam Levine.  Wow...what an amazing movie.  So full of pain and hope and emotion.  I immediately stuck the soundtrack on my wishlist.  Keira Knightley's songs are friggin' amazing times ten.  This might be an owner for me.  It more than made up for the crapfest that was Terminator Genisys on the movie front.

I'm hoping tomorrow's update will be that the basement dude says they're minor issues they'll come back and patch and replace our crappy insulation sheets on the homeowners association dime.  Fingers crossed.

Have you had a rainy summer in your area?

  2. We had record-breaking rain in the spring, but now it's just hot here. Really hot. Hope the basement repair is minor!

    1. Yeah I'll gladly take the lower than average temps and rain over gross hot. I'm just not cut out to be out in that kind of heat. Beh! LOL

  3. We've had a lot of rain this summer. The month of July has exceeded what we normally get for the full season. Even us cutting the lawn on Sunday you could feel the humidity coming up from the grass because it had rained the day before and just couldn't get fully dry. We have to cut the lawn twice a week right now just to keep up with the growth. It was nice today in the low 80's with a nice breeze (to help air out the house from skunk!)
