What I'm Reading This Week #34

Hello you sassy beast!  Ready for another flip flappin' fantastic weekend?  Yes indeedy, Ally Sheedy. It's been a week of working ahead for me as I try to work on ideas for holiday posts.  I know, no one is ready for Christmas but spit balling stuff is actually getting me excited for the season.  I like to try to give myself the month of December off from writing new posts (except updating weekly happenings) so all I have to do is respond if needed.  It lets me take a little mental break during the holidays to try to enjoy what I can then hop back into the new year hopefully rested and ready to roll.   We did book our 30th anniversary trip, which is the same one we had to cancel this year and of course got travel insurance.  It's just nice to have something to hopefully look forward to and it makes you go "where the heck did 4 1/2 years go?" because it seems like just yesterday we were celebrating our 25th.  Do people even celebrate their 30t...

Goodbye teeny boppers - Weigh In

Down a pound today which gets me out of the teens.  I'll admit I was a little bummed because I did harder workouts this week (Tae Bo and Turbo Fire) and was hoping to keep up the 2 lb per week streak but I will take what I can get.  I feel like I've been in the teens forever so I am happy to say goodbye to them regardless of what loss got me there.

I've been kind of reviewing how I felt this week as compared to the past 3 weeks when I was consistently losing 2 lbs and I'll be honest, both of our bodies took what feels like an unnecessary beating.  This week has been full of aches and pains and strains and that's not good.  It makes me wonder if I need to re-evaluate how often I do really intense workouts right now.  So I'm going to look back over the 3 weeks and see what was working for me and have a discussion with the Mr.  Because the 3 weeks I was losing, the scale wasn't treating him as kindly.  It made up to him today by giving him a 4 spot so obviously this weeks intensity helped him.  I really don't want to not workout together but if his body needs one thing to lose and mine needs another, we may have to consider it.  :-(  I do know he felt beat up this week too so we'll see.  I also noted I felt "off".  I had trouble reaching the lower end of my calorie range and given how much more stress I was putting on my body, that isn't the best.  So all kinds of things to consider for next week.

One thing I know for sure...I'm NOT hiking in humid weather again like we did last night.  That SUCKED!  Thanks so much to everyone who left sweet comments on yesterday's entry.  I knew there was a reason I loved you guys!

Have a great weekend all!  You ROCK!

  1. A pound is a pound. Like you said it was enough to break a new barrier. Before you know it you'll be joining the Mr. in TwoVille.

I'm sure you guys will figure it out. Maybe some workouts together and some apart, or even at the same time doing different stuff.

  3. Congrats on the 1lb loss! At least it's in the right direction that's what I strive for. Good luck with finding balance with your workouts and weightloss. That's something I always struggle with too.

  4. Feeling beaten up is probably good for both of you every once in a while (says the girl who felt so beaten up early last week that she let exercise slide for four days...) but I think an earlier poster said it best - maybe start working out separately one or two days a week, and the others together, then you get the best of both worlds.

  6. A big WOOHOO on getting out of the teens! I know only losing a pound kind of sucks but at least your one pound closer to your goal. If you feel like what you did this last week was too much for you (i.e. feeling beaten up) and yet the intensity of the workouts this week helped the Mr maybe if you worked out together every day except for a couple of days a week it would work for the best for both of you. Those couple of days a week he could do the more intense workouts. I know me and my guy workout together except for a couple of days a week and it works for us. I'm sure the two of you will figure it out.

    Have a great Sunday!
