What's the weirdest/most interesting roadside attraction you've seen on a road trip/vacation?
Hmm, probably Wall Drug in South Dakota on the way to Yellowstone. There are almost 300 signs for it on the byways and highways driving across the state so your interest is piqued if nothing else. Was it cheesy? Yes! That's the point. It's the ultimate tourist trap you don't want to miss and I'm glad we went.

Since you took Wall Drug, which was a cheesy tourist trap indeed and also so worth a stop - I pick the corn palace. It's actually really neat to see. I have no idea why they do it that way but it is neat - and a bit corny of course.
ReplyDeleteI've been to Wall Drug - summer of 1977 - the signs were better than the actual place - LOL Cadillac Ranch in Amarillo is kinda weird. A group of "artists" back in 1974 took the time to "plant" ten old Cadillacs in a field...

ReplyDeleteI've been to Wall Drug as well. I remember my mother telling me she refused to go there because of all the advertising that she'd see for miles when she was traveling through the state. LOL I have a vague memory of the largest ball of twine or rubber bands, but I can't remember specifics.
