Dry yak, addin' some black and lobster mac

Happy Hump day all!

Man, I woke up yesterday pretty disappointed at how sore I still was from paddling the night before.  I took a nice hot shower, the Mr massages my back and shoulders, I iced just before bed when I still felt some tightness, took some ibuprofen before bed and slept on my back instead of my side just like I did last time when I woke up feeling good but was still tight.  Boo.

*kicks pebble*

We had the board and yak drying in the garage because despite the Mr drying the yak, the past two times I've taken it out, it's been wet which is not good.  Mold and mildew like that kinda thang.  So we checked it and it looked fine.  I guess we won't know for sure until the next paddle and given the forecast, I don't think that's going to be this week.

I spent most of the day doing some business crap that has been put off for too long.  I'm surprised the whites of my eyes didn't liquefy from boredom and frustration.  I've still got stuff to do but I'm on my way and it's better than still being on the procrastination train.

I had to do a body check to see what I could handle and the bod said Walk Away the Pounds.  (affiliate link) We did a two miler because we started really late.  Thankfully I did a delay start to pre-heat the oven so it was ready to go when we were done.

I overestimated the salmon filet so I needed a little something extra so I chucked some black beans in with the bacon and peas.  (I love TJ's dry rubbed, no nitrate 40% less fat bacon.  Half a slice goes a long way!)

We got sucked into the Cooking Channel's Junk Food Flip and I can't wait to try Nikki's version of Charleston's lobster mac and cheese sandwich.  Of course I twinged with jealousy of my 2 month ago self when I was actually in Charleston.  Then afterward, we watched some show in San Francisco and I was jealous of 14 month ago me that was there.  Sigh.

What junk food from your favorite restaurant would you like to see flipped into something a little healthier?

  1. I had to take a hot soaking bath this morning for my legs to finally feel a bit better but that's also because I did a lot of jumping around in our "walk away" workout. Gotta get those extra calories wherever I can. I sure hope it pays off this week on the scale because I am really hoping to see new numbers!

  2. One of my favorites is fried mozzarella cheese sticks, the battered kind not the breaded. Pretty sure there's nothing to be done for that.

I also love a local restaurant's chicken avocado tacos, and they're really easy to replicate. You have to fry the tortillas though to get them to puff up and that adds so many calories to an otherwise basically healthy meal, and it's just not the same if they're not puffy. If I could find a way to "puff" them without frying I'd like that.

  3. Can you do a post soon about your favorite Trader Joe products? I love to shop there but don't know what to get. Thanks!
